Warning really rubbishy indoor photos because I'm indoors and stuff and yeah!

I have however dressed for the occasion for once - out of my hobo sock and into some spiffy flashy modern clothes!

No Morse is in the cupboard - that is Sherlock Holmes you can see there under the books in the first shot

And that setup is *deep breath* 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2 + 2*TC + 1.4TC (normally I'd only have one but I wanted to show off all the neat coats on the lenses and make it look all long and stuff). I've got my eyes on the long stuff but its super expensive :(. The tripod is a manfrotto (gitzo is on the wishlist - and currently battling against a new bag or lens).

    Yay someone spotted them :)

lol - you had me fooled with the extras there >.>

Still, it looks pretty awesome. Will that fresnell flash do any good at 200mm, though? I can hardly imagine it would...

At 200mm it might be ok (never tried it at that range) though I've never tried it out at that range (I've actually hardly used it at 400mm with the 2*TC on the lens).

Are there any cameras with a wider aperture than f 2.8?
And I thought I had a long zoom...

Luhn - yep lots of lenses have apertures wider than f2.8 - though as far as I know they are pretty much all sub 200mm in focal length.

    135mm L f2
    85mm f1.2
    50mm f1.2

There are even some limited magic lenses with apertures less than 1 - I think canon made one once and a few other brands have one or so kicking around.

no no its really simple - its got a green button mode! Just point and shoot and it works

course... its got lots of other modes too with funky controls and stuff that let you do all kinds of neat things

oh and menus its got them too - only they don't go through all those confusing "winter mode - sports mode - running person mode - pet looking cute mode - running from the cops mode - etc..."

they go with: really slow to amazingly fast shutter speed, with so many bits between you can't count. And that's only the basics.

I have a semi-automatic Nikon Coolpix P100; perfect for beginners like me, who don't need any extra lenses, can control most of it in manual, though aperture, shutter speed and ISO are linked, so a 400 ISO doesn't give a shutter speed any slower than 4"

    Awesome!!
I'd like to buy a decent camera as well. Not too expensive though, but still with a big lens and one that can take pretty pictures. :) Any recommendations?
