    yep I voted 1!!!!
we even have sky and I don't watch it so much is repeats of older shows (those are the things worth watching); films (those are out on DVD quicker than they appear on boxoffice now); new rubbishy shows (yah all those soap sci-fis - heck see Bonekickers from the BBC thier latest offering from a big group and its horrific!)

All in all not much to watch - least not enough to make me want to watch TV
A shame in the late 80s-90s there was a lot of good stuff on which I would watch - and be sad at missing - even into 2000s there was some stuff, but most good stuff vanishes (FIRE FLY and lets not forget Babalon 5 nearly got canceled) and the rest today is Big Brother!

Only thing that will get me back is the still work in progress and not fully working yet, ASOIAF series

I watch Top Gear and thats about it.
The odd DVD perhaps now and then, but I hate most tv stations and their mindnumbing drivel.
Maybe we just get crap shows!

does it count as watching if it's on in the background because you can't stand to function without some kind of white noise?

On average, atleast 3 hours a day. There's always stuff like House and Scrubs on. Then when I'm having lunch or something I sit in front of the TV. Over the entire day, it adds up to more than 3 hours I suppose.

    Hmmm...

Well, technically, I have it on a lot, but whilst sitting next to my computer, I don't watch it all the time.

I think that, on average, I watch tv (as in - consciously watching a programme) for about an hour a day. I always pick out a breakfast news - and there's always something in the evening that can interest me enough. But it's on for about - say - 4-5 hours a day?

    I chose 4 (60-80 mins) :)

I seldom watch TV. The radio is more entertaining.

I don't have a TV, so 1. And when I'm home, after 10 minutes of zapping through, I notice: nothing new. So I shut it down again.
TV programm sucks, the only thing worth watching are movies and even that is taken away because of all the commercials

You don't need a TV. Despite the lofty aspirations of Baird, it's nothing more than an idiot-tube. No cultural experience is lost by not having a TV. Just the opposite.

How about if we watch the TV but don't turn it on?
