It is... was an Asus STRIX GTX 970. When turning on the PC a white LED lights up (and not the red one, which lights up when there's something wrong with the power AFAIK) and the fans work, but none of my screens got a signal. I googled the problem and some people suggested to update the BIOS, which I did, to no avail. I checked different cables, made sure everything was plugged in correctly, and used to different screens with VGA, HDMI, and DVI to check whether anything was wrong with the cables, outlets, or screens.
I returned the graphics card yesterday (thanks to Amazon's return policy) and am planning to get another GTX 970, but maybe from another brand.
If that won't work it's probably my motherboard that can't handle the GTX 970. (It's an Asus F2 A55-M LK.) Though I seriously hope the card was just defective. D:

Oh yes, definitely. I'm pretty calm at the moment when thinking about the meeting, I'm too busy being anxious about university-related stuff, but I'm sure the hype will come up eventually. :D

    That's a nice card *nods*

I happen to know it's part of the minimum specs for Oculus Rift. Not related, by any chance is it?

To be honest, it's probably going to be either of two things, this. Either the videocard was broken (which sounds likely). Or the power supply is outpaced by the draw of that GTX 970 put in. A third option would be that the card wasn't shoved in the slot properly, but I will give you the credits of having checked that ;)

Let's hope this will be resolved with a replacement part.

Me, I currently feel a bit sapped. I was challenged to do 50 km with a friend - by bike - this evening. I haven't eaten yet, so let's say I can't wait for this pizza to be ready.

Nah, I'll wait for a couple of years until I'll give VR a try. Until then I just want to finally be able to play games with the graphics settings set to high or ultra (and/or play a few newer games soon, such as Dishonored 2).

I sent the Asus graphics card back to Amazon yesterday and got the refund today, so I ordered the same model by another brand a few minutes ago. Can't wait till Friday! So, to stay on topic: I'm a little hyped for a change. :D

Also, 50 km by bike - nice D: How long does that take? My first thought was whether your buttocks hurt after bike rides that long, and then I thought you're Dutch, so you probably aren't as whiny about long bike rides as I am. :D:D

It's about an hour and fourty-five minutes. The wind was quite strong (as it gets in NL, I am sure you are aware), otherwise I think it would even have been a bit faster.

And, yes, the arse does get sore from time to time, especially when you're trying to squeeze out the last drop. It gets better over time, though. I am currently at a state where it starts to hurt around the 80 km mark. Could be worse. Could be better, I suppose. It is what it is.

Having eaten and showered, I feel quite fresh now actually. Too bad I'll hit they hay in about 10 minutes...

I hope your new card works out for you Firi and OMG Tur, an hour and 45 minutes for 50 km on a bike sounds pretty darn impressive!!!

I feel stressed. This whole moving business is SUCH a lot of work. :p

I feel that I should be putting more effort into all of these programming projects I was so eager to start during exams… going out on walks or cycling (muddy/hilly terrain, not flat northern roads).

Instead I'm reading, playing video games, walking around the house and garden, and tidying the house and garden.

You are voluntarily tidying the house and garden?!?! Do you want a summer job?????

I'm feeling rather neutral at the moment.

Feeling in need of a massage at the base of my neck. It hurts to look left/right/up/down. Happy otherwise :)

As long as there's no dusting or vacuuming involved (and travel is paid ;)) gladly :D
I'm just a very tidy person with a lot of time on my hands.

Mostly liquid. People don't have air conditioning in Belgium, so 35°C gets a little hot…
