I'd looking into creating a war horn, something like what Boromir had. My only problem is that I cannot find a horn to make it with. Does anyone know where? or have some idea of where I could get a lard enough horn?

I'm not entirely sure where one might get a completely unfinished horn for such a use, although I know they are still made for non-movie prop purposes. This suggestion is a bit grisley, but I would suggest asking a cattle farmer or a slaughterhouse if they have any you might be able to use. I don't know of anyone that just sells horns wholesale, but people get them somewhere. If you are willing to improvise from something that has already been turned into a horn but is undecorated, I would suggest going to a high quality renaissance festival or medieval faire. I know for sure that there is a man that sells horns at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, and I am relatively certain that other festivals have such vendors as well. However, the ones I have seen are considerably smaller than Boromir's horn. If you would prefer to go from scratch and are able to get in contact with such a person, I would suggest asking them where they get their horns.

Go to a hunting shop and get a powder horn for a muzzelloader gun. The only hard part will be taking off the wood stopper at the end.

hmmm. Thats a good idea. I never thought about taking a powder horn. If your going to turn it into a blowing horn.. let me know how taking off the end turns out. I'm fairly certain that I can get a powder horn.

I've been to the warhorse one. I sent them numorous e-mails about payments and shipping and costs, and i got one sentance answer for the entire reply. I wasn't satisfied with them. My goal now is to either find a powder horn or an actual bulls horn.

Too bad about that warhorse site's lack of service...
Just type in "powder horns" in Google, or "drinking horns", or even try "war horns" or something.
    Good luck....

I cut the end off, right below the nails. It's looking pretty good. I need to get a mouth piece for it. Got any suggestions on what type of mouthpiece to make it blow?

    Well... There are two options.

You can cut a mouthpiece into it. OR you can buy a trumpet mouthpiece.

I'm a musician myself. I have played everything from the saxophones to percussion to trumpets and trombones. It may be difficult at first to make a sound. Let me know if you need help.

I used to play the clarinet, (just until very recently) and have played on my friends trumpet before, so I can make noise. I think i might carve a mouth piece.

You can do that two different ways. You can make it like a trumpet mouth piece... or you can just make a cone.

    www.leatherfactory.com

There are 66 or so Leather Factory stores around the nation. See if there are any close to you. They sell unfinished horns for about $15, and unfinished BIG ones for about $25. I have one, and toyed with it, but I have trouble making noise, for one since I never played an instrument, and two, I wasn't able to make the hole very large...
