Hello DarthDandelion! I'm pretty new here as well and it's a cool forum with lots of great members.
I have to say that I admire Sparrow's honesty and ability to charge head first (no pun intended) into a challenge.

I see that the young people's excuse doesn't work.

Well, at least you've caught a glimpse of what it's like here.

Yes, my innocent eyes might melt in their sockets otherwise.

Car accident on the weekend... helping a friend move stuff to a storage facility in his truck and on the way there we were broadsided by a suv running a red light, right into the passenger side door. Couple of broken ribs and a dislocated hip that popped back into joint by itself, apparently. Lots of bruises, minor hemorrhaging on the right lung, and one of my testicles is swollen up. I'll survive.:)

You'll see as you get older that there's sort of an ebb and flow to one's life.
You can find yourself in a really nice groove for awhile, even for many years... but then it falters and you fall out of the groove. It's usually something I sense as opposed to actually knowing. Sort of a paranoia or growing sense of dread that Lady Luck isn't riding shotgun anymore, and I had better make sure my medical insurance is up-to-date.:)

See I told you so, horses are dangerous... assuming that's how you came to have broken ribs.:)

First time was when I jumped off a crazy horse straight into a fence.
The second time was when I went off road with a dirt bike looking thing.

Since I've never had broken ribs until now... how long did it take you to fully heal up?

    I can live with that.
The pain is at the annoying stage right now. It's trying to find a good position to fall asleep in that's really a bitch. I've got all the bed pillows in the house stacked up around me so I don't roll over on my side. And I wasn't supposed to drink any alcohol because of the medication I'm on, but it helps me to get to sleep so I fudged and drank a beer.

The only thing I'm taking away from all of this...don't help people move, it's hazardous to one's health :)

But when a good friend asks for help moving stuff you just have to do it, there's no choice in the matter. Like when Frodo and Sam go off on their epic journey of the Ring... it's a 'guy thing'. You girls will never quite understand the bond us guys have when there's a difficult job it be done (like moving stuff cross town) and danger awaits around every bend... or in this case, a busy downtown intersection.

To help with understanding the dynamic at work, for you women it's sort of the same thing when ya'all are out together at a club or a party and one of you asks the other to go off to the bathroom together, you simply can't refuse; then off you go to conduct whatever murky business it is you do in there... talk about the guy you are with, fixing your makeup, help zip up a dress, plotting mayhem... trading tampons.:)

Anyhow, this is your greetings thread so enough of my nonsense:)... what type of photography are you into?.. I've posted some of my artwork and photography here and it usually gets a good response, if not always from the mods though; who I have to admit are actually pretty cool and open-minded about most things.

Good grief! Glad to read you're going to be OK. I hope your buddy bought you that beer you fudged after all that. :/

I dare you to repeat that to Buffy, Xena, Samantha Carter, Aeryn Sun, or any of the many other women who definitely don't trade tampons when they go to the bathroom. Nope, it's all about beating up bad guys, saving the dude in distress, and preventing apocalyptic disaster. But it's cute that you think we even care about fixing our make up :)

I'll be sure to check out some of your work :)

I dabble in a little of everything honestly. Right now though I'm working on a project for an art show I have coming up in June that'll be a mixture of human and non-human portraits and weapons, all around the theme of women warriors. Gonna be totally cool...if I can pull it off the way I want :p My style is all over the place though so there's no telling what I'll actually end up with. But that's part of the fun.

HA!.. I would be honored if my butt had to be saved by those women warriors.:)
An example of my artwork... View attachment 8950

The only time in my life I actually made a living as an artist was when I designed and built props for small theatre and playhouses... deadlines were ridiculous, the pay was lousy, and sometimes it was a real drag working under art directors. But I enjoyed the hell out of it. This isn't one of those props I made way back then, just something I did for a friend's big halloween bash some years ago. But it'll give you an idea of what I used to do when I was a "starving artist"...and a very happy one. And good luck on your current project! View attachment 8951

That's cool. Did you do that digitally? I'm currently trying to teach myself to draw. So far, I've managed to put together a pretty decent stick figure, but that's about it :p I also decided for whatever insane reason I wanted to try painting. I suck at it, but it's fun so I guess that's something. I figure I have the art-geek thing going for me so I really don't need to be practical about these things.

Thanks! I'm probably gonna need ;)
