I awoke this afternoon, like just about a half hour ago, to the sound of helicopters and sirens. I'm thinking what in the hell is going on, there's a helicopter flying very, very low and circling my house... omg, I went sleep this morning and all was well with the world and now suddenly I'm a fugitive! What do I do, make a run for it like they do in the movies?:).. turns out the cops were after some guy and they finally boxed him in... right behind my house! Here's a quick pic I took out of my upstairs bathroom window as a police officer was putting the bad guy in his car. I don't care, this is why I moved to the City... there's always something cool happening.

OMG.... you'll have to watch the news tonight and post the link for us.
Stuff like that can be sort of exciting but scary at the same time. The sleepy little place I call home once had a SWAT team called in for a hostage-taking situation... never seen the likes of that before or since thankfully!
Glad you're OK and that nothing too awful happened in your backyard Sparrow.

Thanks SJ... my house has been robbed once so I get a little antsy when such thing happen nearby... and we have had a couple of murders in the neighborhood in the last few years, so I keep aware of things. I'll keep an eye on the local news and post a link... it's probably just some small time crook that got caught.

And to be honest with you, I have a soft spot for bad guys on the run... it wasn't so long ago I was on the other end of it and I know the sick feeling of putting on a good chase only to head up face down with a police officer's knee in my back and other cops with guns pointed in my direction. Thank goodness I changed my life around. :)

Whoa! You should post a news article. That's crazy. The closest I've been to something like that was when they were monitoring my ex-boyfriend's uncle's movements via helicopter/creepy white vans/etc because he's in the polish mafia in Chicago lol.

Yeah, I woke to the sound a sirens a couple of times during the year I lived at Keele & Eglinton. Nasty neighbourhood.

We had a knock on the door from Interpol once, asking about neighbours who had just moved out in a hurry. Seems one of them was wanted in Portugal for something very serious. Life in the big city.

Gah towns - I'll stick to the countryside where you don't have to bat an eyelid over a few gunshots or awaken to screaming sirens randomly going through town (though you do get cows, horses, sheep, pigs and harvest time :p).

Yeah, gunshots in the country are different from gunshots in the city. At the cottage, a flurry of shots means it's opening day of duck season. In the city....

Nope, definitely no Joshua trees there.

*envies Sparrow* :O Oh look. It's the fuzz....

What a thing to wake up to! How can the rest of the day measure up to it?

Well, I guess there are a few ways it could :D

As long as you're comfortable with your priorities.

And I'm repping you for use of the word "fuzz".

ha ha ha ha, a cpl years ago, 9 maybe, a car chase ended up out the front of my place, firearms waving, cuffs slamming on, head slamming into bonet of cop car, we rushed out, beer in hand, wooping and cheering, only to have a cop turn, point at the house in a gesturing manner with the pistol, and order us inside. we stopped wooping, started muttering, and proceeded inside to open curtains and watch from the house

We have a celeb on the forum now then :D Good thing they caught him and he didnt try to sneak in to your house and hide or something.

I live in a bad neighbourhood and we have shootings, gang fights, murders, and police patrolling every night. Had the police stop a car right outside my window the other week just to search through a car for something. Probably drugs. Which made me really nosy and unable to sleep. Pressing my face up the window at 3 o clock in the night/morning :D

OMG you guys... I'm so glad I don't live in the city now after reading all this stuff!
We sometimes get local tragedies, but they aren't murders and the like.... they're usually kids doing stupid stuff and killing themselves in the process, or car accidents, or idiots rolling round bales of hay down main street after setting them on fire at halloween. Some of the worst ones are farming accidents: people getting sucked up grain augers or killed by rabid horses that they should have vaccinated....awful! :p

Rabies can infect most mammals... horses included and yeah I wish I'd never heard what that horse did to that poor guy either :p

This is a good thing Lodriraj, having lived in a gunshot/murder area I haven't looked back since. Nice and quiet is the way I like it. Definitely an interesting way to wake up Sparrow!
