Oh hai there. I'm Mogett. Clouded Perception demanded that I join this forum and spread my filth and lies across the boards in exchange for her finally getting MSN.

I sing, I dance, I cook, I clean*. I'm an "artist" (HAH!) and a writer, though I've been producing very little recently due to my computer being a lump of fetid dung roughly crammed into a plastic case. I have a DeviantART page, but if you want the link you'll have to PM me, as I'm reluctant to start chucking the link around like a pamphlet from a Mormon doorknocker.

I don't really have to mention that I'm somewhat rabidly anti-religious, do I? I probably shouldn't. Oh, and this doesn't mean I'll barge up to people and aggressively tell them what I think. I just kind of react strongly when given an opening or when people try and convert me to Pastafarianism or whatever.

Oh yeah. I come from the land of the budgie-smuggler, and I'm turning eighteen in ten days (woo). My favourite film of the moment is Silent Hill, mostly for Pyramid Head and the sytlistic elements of the Rust Dimension, and my favourite band is currently System of a Down.

Er. I think that's it. I look foward to wrangling with you all.

    ---

    * All four of the previous statements are filthy lies.

You know, if I'd had to write up a post by someone who was friends with CP it'd probably have come out something like that. Welcome.

That's a classic intro, I too also hail from the land of the budgie smuggler and welcome you to TFF. If you are anywhere near as opinionated as CP, it will be a pleasure to read your posts. Happy posting :)

    Just one question
    ASoIaF? or SOT?

Ooh, that one's easy. A Song of Ice and Fire wins hands down. Actually, I've read neither of them; it's just that CP is constantly trying to tell me Goodkind is the King of All, so I'm refusing to read his stuff. Also... Debt of Bones wasn't much of a story.

And yeah, I'm in love with Garth Nix's Old Kingdom books. Ever since I was a kid I wanted a white cat called Mogget, but now I have to satisfy myself with a butchered version of the name. :p

As an aside, Robin Hobbs beats Goodkind, Nix and Tolkien into the ground. My reasoning? Lord of the Rings or the Old Kingdom triology didn't make me cry.

    Thanks for the welcome. ^^

    Step one; get MSN.
    Step two; ???
    Step three; profit!

You'll need to get either a .NET passport or a Hotmail address. Hotmail is probably easiest. Once you get either of those, you can sign into MSN using the e-mail and password.

Hobb is right up the top of my favourite's list for sure, only recently has her position been challenged. I have read most of the SOT series, I tried to like it, but I just can't stand it. It doesn't help that Goodkind is a Bush supporter either (ick).

A Song of Ice and Fire is a great series, especially if your not into the, done to death (good guy wins stuff).

anyway nice to meet you :)

What's it with picking on SoT? Okay, Goodkind has a bit of a sex fixation, but apart from that the series is excellent. Except for Pillars of Creation, which sucked.

Mogett, check out the atheism thread, we could do with some more opinionated discussion there.

I'll admit I didn't mind the series at the start, but it just got so repetitive and predictable, I got sick of it, and I completely agree Pillars of Creation was crap.

I do really like the whole Mord Sith idea. Oh and BTW unlike some, I do like Sex/rape, violence scenes in most books.

The only (only) good torture scenes I've ever read were by Robin Hobbs; in the end of Royal Assain (you all know the scene...) and towards the middle of The Golden Fool (when Fitz almost kills Deerkin). The first, because it's evocative and focuses on what FitzChivalry is thinking rather than graphic descriptions of violence, and the second because it has Nighteyes in it.

Imrhien, if you like Robin Hobbs, you get to live when my Blue Mercurian Unicorns take over the world.

Imrhein, Goodkind went just a little overboard, don't you think? I could put up with Denna in the first one because it was an important part in establishing both Richard's character and that of your average Mord-Sith (who do rule), but what's it with the Sisters of the Dark in book 2? Or the nipple-fixated general in the next one? I'm not even going to go into Richard's brothers (It's hard to decide which brother was worse, but my vote lies with the priest guy. I felt kind of sorry for Oba.)

I told you Mogget -- it's pink Martian unicorns! We will disembowell you for your heresy! (You're outnumbered here -- I've got a high priest and an acolyte running around on this forum somewhere.)
