Hi, I've read a lot of SF/Fantasy, Historical Fiction and some books that are difficult to classify but have some fantasy elements or are a blend of several genres. I'm fascinated by how the same themes seem to reappear again and again, but with different faces and in different decors. I've always felt that Merlin, Gandalf, the older Obi-wan Kenobi and Dumbledore are, if not brothers, at least close relatives. Just to give you an idea: I like Marion Zimmer Bradley, both her Darkover-novels and Mists of Avalon, Asimov's Foundation trilogy, Herbert's Dune books, but I also like Mary Renault's Alexander trilogy. The last ones probably because I'm gay myself. I can understand why a lot of people like LoTR, and while I liked reading them (and seeing the films) I can't say I'm a big fan. Same goes for Harry Potter, which I think brilliant but for a young crowd. That's it for now. Off to browse around.
