    The master from Vinci.
Pretty simple why: he was good at everything and he did a lot. When he lived, science and art were not two different things and science itself was not divided into different sections. and so Da Vinci was able to research everything he wanted.

Da Vinci was the last great mind that stood out of the mass.
Today everyone has to go through all those different systems and we all come up quite alike. A mind like Da Vincis would be lost nowadays.

but he was the greatest mind of all times.

    Einstein didn't believe in god?
Makes the famous statement of "God does not play dice" when the Heizenburgh uncertainty principle came about a bit odd...

This may be an attempt to refer to the Socratic method, in which someone is led to understand the truth by answering directed questions.

My vote still has to go to DaVinci, in only for the breadth of his understanding.

Da Vinci invented Physics before the church allowed anyone to believe that there were laws of nature and not of god o_O

I don't really think he did, but he was the first one I know of to look into the laws of nature.
Pysics can't be invented though right?! It the term for laws of nature o_O

Well you can sort of say "invented". Maybe the first intentional application of physics with knowledge that you are using physics (albeit not the term).

I always think that the number crunchers get a lot of fame for discovering things - but I think the real great inventors and discorverers are the unnamed ones from deep in our history.

The one(s) that discovered how to make, control and use fire
    The inventor of the wheel
The one(s) who first started domestication of animals
The one(s) who discovered how to work with and extract metals from the earth (this has always been interesting to me since its such a revolutionary change to our people and its such an abstract thing to do).

they (and more) I think are the ones who are more responcible for where we are today since they were at much more of a starting point - a lot of the greats who followed mostly just played with maths ;)

It's hard to give recognition to people before there was any sort of written record -.-

You make it sound as though make playing with maths is an easy thing.
