You see things in the spirit of time, surely the chinese army is the biggest there ever was, but you don't view it as such.
I vote alexander, for more than just military power.
The man tried to merge cultures, peoples, and nations into one superpower.
Then he died :p but who knows what might've happened had he lived.

Some speculate he would have gone further in Asia, some others say he wouldn't have dared to explore or conquer the rest of India. And there's a lot of rumour about how significant his presence was in the area of Afghanistan,Western India and generally that area of Asia.

Lyra ex-Blackness said it well he did try to merge civilizations.Oh man I just remember I had a dream once about his empire surviving to this day,it was actually like a fantasy movie it was a HUGE empire of all these cultures blended or influenced by the ancient greek/hellenistic period culture some "Sentinel" like(from WC3)female soldiers were riding on horses, there was technology and huge squares full of people mixed with lots of beautiful fountains, ancient greek-like statues and buildings.

Mongols are the coolest, had the largest empire of all of them, and in terms of legacy, didn't they spread the black death to Europe? Also a large portion of today's population is related to Genghis Khan, all thanks to his conquering.

Pff...Mongols were too barbaric and bloodthirsty. How can a large portion of today's population be related to Gengis Khan, come on that stupid.Maybe in China and Mongolia or some parts of Central Asia there are descedants of the soldiers of Gengis Khan but that's mostly Turkic and Mongolian people anyway.

Scientific gene-studies show that at least 30% of people are related to Genghis Khan. Remember that he traveled from China, one of the most populous countries in the world, all the way to the Middle-East, and had thousands of wives over his journeys that he took from various countries. They also weren't that stupid or barbaric, just ruthless in battle.

Oh come on...you're telling me that about 30% of Asia-Europe are descendants of Genkis Khan?No matter how much he had sex he couldn't have populated half-asia come on...!

I'll disagree with you, they were barbaric to the core at least Gengis Khan, they were nomadic barbaric contributed totally nothing to the world. Now if you wanna talk about Kublai Khan,I have Mark Polo's Memoirs or "Journeys" I don't know how's it called,I call it Marco Polo's Chronicle...and it's really interesting to see how the Mongol Empire worked.Kublai Khan's empire was more civilized than predecessors'.

No he couldn't have directly. But he could've had many many children with 1000 wives. And those children would have children and so on and so forth. If he had 1000 wives and 1 kid with each wife and each kid had 3 kids and each of their kids had 3 kids, that's 9000 people after only 3 generations, and 3 kids is a very very low estimate for the times.

Its not there but I would say the British Empire. Of what is there I guess Rome.

Still there are alot of good empires missing. Incan, Aztec, Mayan, I think the Iroquis tribes united at one time, the Chinese.

Still Rome was great, wide spread, growing, ingenius, powerful, they had it.

I believe that the Mongols had more land than the Romans... They were just earlier than Ceasar and because of that not well known... or am I wrong about that?
