@ Ilae: Yup, I'm in university now! Aren't you proud of me? :D

There's also a fairly high chance that I'll end up driving to Phoenix SOMETIME (everyone does it, after all) with friends... we should meet up for coffee or something, and you can tell me about how dem young nippers run across your lawn (by which I mean a spot of transplanted grass that must be watered 24/7 and will die within 3 months anyway) all the time. ;)

    @ Rach: I'm sowwy! :( How's your school though?

School is boring, what else is new? I'm taking Engineering Economics, lots of corporate finance stuff. A few more leadership courses too.

Wha are you studying Em? Picked a major yet?

Yeah, I'm going into a psych major (Bachelor of Science), but since it's also a useless degree, I'm also going to have to get at least a Master's, if not a Ph.D, just to be able to support myself. I've got quite a bit of schooling in front of me to get through, lol.

Your classes sound boring though. Sorry. :<

*tears up* oh, you all are growing up so fast I'm so proud of you all! I remember when LDH didn't even have a license! :p ;) Ok, senior moment over! :D

Did you say coffee, you name the place I'll be there! Btw, how did you know I had grass...lol! ;) It is overseeding time again, yes one last ditch effort to capture the memories of greener pastures and not remind ones self that they are in the desert and not in the lush green of HI anymore! All for a fleeting few months to enjoy outside during the cooler weather! What some of us desert dwellers will do!

Haha yeah, it's been a long time, hasn't it? I was like 14 when I first joined the forum, and now I'm all in college... and stuff...

But ouch, yeah... I keep forgetting that not all of us desert folks don't actually remember what it's like to live in a different environment. I remember what I was thinking when I went up to Colorado College for a summer program last year - "The grass is green? And not dry? What's going on?"

I am afraid I kind of poked a hornets nest when I posted in the Sword of Truth thread.
I hope you guys will protect me.
I am afraid they might take my innocent comment the wrong way....

The legend of the seeker- tv-show thread.
People were bullshitting about how the show was crap and how the producers of tv-shows would never ask people on a fanboard for help. And how they shit on the fans to just to make money.

I just told them that David and Dan (Benioff and Weis) go to westeros.com for help with casting and other stuff.

^ lol... it can be even more succinctly summed up with the acronym CICO

TV/Film versions are rarely (if ever) going to fully meet expectations IMO because your imagination has already painted it's own unique interpretation when reading the book. Even the oscar-showered LoTR trilogy was only pretty good not perfect to a fan of Tolkien.

There's also a difference between LotR and SoT. As in, one's good. And the other... isn't.

lol, The last four or five posts here have me rolling.

Good job, Maester. Of course we'll protect you. Have David and Dan really been frequenting the westeros.org boards? I'll have to get over there.

Ella, you're definately right. If/When Thrones comes out on HBO, I'm sure I'm going to be watching very skeptically. "Hello, Sansa's hair is auburn, not brown!"

Oh, yep your in for it! She's definitely a fan of SoT.

I have to admit I did check out the series, I thought it could be interesting since it was from the producers of Xena and Herc. Which I will admit was one of my guilty pleasures back in the day! So, I thought what the heck I'll give it a go. Well one episode later, not so good maybe I should give it more of a chance or maybe read the books. But what I see from these last posts doesn't stack up to our ASoIaF.

I believe there was a GRRM quote... digging it up if I can.

EDIT: Found it. I remember this incident in particular because I believe that Mr. Goodkind's representatives made a fuss about it or some such.

    From the Funniest Moments thread:

Well... not exactly from ASoIaF. But still awesome and hilarious.

    Reader ADAM HARMON writes:

I'm something of an online gamer since my last role-playing group disbanded a year or two ago. I started a new character on World of Warcraft and took a jaunt through one of the forests in the game. As chance would have it, I came across a blond woman named Cercei. Granted, the spelling was off (in online gaming, names are hard to secure), but I had to take a chance because I just finished reading A Song of Ice and Fire up until Crows for the second time. I told her privately, "Valar Morghulis," and without even skipping a beat, she replied, "Valar Dohaeris." It was the closest thing to a secret society handshake I've ever learned.

    GRRM writes:

Hey, I think you may be on to something here! What a great idea, a pick-up line for ICE & FIRE readers! Don't know what to say to that cute girl you just spotted at the con party? Just stroll up and whisper, "Valar Morghulis." If she replies, "Valar Dohaeris," you know you've got something in common, and you're off and running, talking about your favorite characters and the books in general and other books you've liked and... who knows where it will end? And if she gives you a blank look instead, that's good too. Either she doesn't read at all, or she's a Terry Goodkind fan, and you can move on and find someone else. It's well known, mixed marriages don't work.

Of course, you don't actually say how this online relationship turned out. There are certain perils in getting too close to blond women named Cercei, no matter how they spell it.

    GRRM

Yet another delay to ADwD ~ now at least end 2009....

    From Amazon..

"Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

George R.R. Martin (Author) "A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice & Fire)" [Hardcover]
    Estimated arrival date: 05/11/09 - 12/11/09"

.. this is the 4th or 5th(?) such email I've had since pre-ordering so even Nov 09 is probably not going to happen :(
