I am a college student and in a classical myth class I took we studied Oedipus. Nothing special I know, but bear with me.

I came across a theory of one of Freud's students. I can't remember his name, but he came up with the idea that each individual has an ideal mate. The nearest match hypothetically being their soul mate. For women its called animus and for men, anima. Anima as an FFXer would know is Seymour's aeon. Freud's Oedipus Complex suggests that any male wants to kill his father and mary his mother. If you did the extra work to get access to Anima as one of your aeons you saw the cut scenes that show Seymour's love for his mother, how he blamed his father for her death, and how her spirit eventually became Anima (the Aeon). Seymour does kill his father and his mother is his Anima (both definitions). Somebody at square must have had a copy of some Freud lying around... Pretty heavy stuff for a video game.

I thought that was worth sharing. I'd be interested in any responses.

mmm, I think nobody will if we don't do it. I never thought of that when I played the game, so unless Calarustithil has posted this somewhere else it would take very long before someone does find out. I think it'll take about 3 years

I only read it once and got it but my question for the creators would be why put collage material in a game for teens isnt that a little complex for for most teens
