The only one I'll give you is Elves. His elves were different to most traditional elves. The traditional one's were small gnome sized things. I.e. Dobby from Harry Potter

What about dwarves?Orcs?Goblins?Elven languages? The similarity of the civilizations and habits of these races to other fantasy worlds?

It's really stupid to argue about that man,I mean come on when I(and not just me)see Warhammer,Warcraft and similar worlds like these I know that they have been inspired and influenced by Tolkien's works.Well if you think that Orcs in Warhammer were inspired by My Little Pony or Glo Friends then that's your thing...that's your opinion :ybounce:

Again there is a lot of similarity..of course...Orcs are Orcs, Elves are Elves...yes Tolkien invented the languages but they weren't used in Warhammer. Again they existed before Tolkien even their civilization...habbits...etc...These were inspired by Fantasy stories which existed long before Tolkien. He added something great to it...but you can't credit him for everything where you see in an Orc...an elf...a dwarf etc... in it.

Again I didn't say THAT.Why do you get the idea that I think of all the fantasy worlds as identical to Tolkien's Middle-Earth?That's not what I'm saying!

I didn't say you did, I'm just saying cause you like to give credit to the man for things he hasn't done or gave inspiration for...calm down foin...

Lol I didn't say you did either, and Anakin is right. You're giving Tolkien too much great. He didn't create so much that all following fantasy works were so heavily inspired by him. If you're going to say "Oh there are goblins in it, that's very Tolkien inspired", I'm going to say that nearly all of Tolkien's work is stolen from storied predating him; Dragons, magic, Tree of Life, etc.

Hey Foinikas have you ever heard of a guy named Robert E. Howard whose pulp writing on Conan, Kull, Solomon Kane, and others. Predate Tolkien by 15 with The Hobbit and and over 30 with LOTR.

    This is exactly right.
I believe he got his elves from german mythology actually.
Dwarves are also from norse and other german mythologies; Orcs are essentially ogres; goblins have been in stories since before tolkien. Maybe Tolkien might have made these things popular, but he didn't invent them. Are you going to say he invented dragons and magic too?

I NEVER said he invented them.I said that these fantasy worlds used the prototype of these creatures that was shaped by Tolkien. The "Tolkien-style" of these creatures.Do you understand me?

    i voted forgotten realms.

lord of the rings is probally about equal, but i didn't vote for all three, because i've never played warhammer.

don't get me wrong, i'd LOVE to. but i've never gotten much of a chance.

You mean the table-top game or the PC games?Because if you can't play the table-top game you can at least play the PC games and get in the atmosphere of the Warhammer world!;)

Edit: Just realised that the Warhammer in this context meant the Fantasy version.

...damn...now this is one messed up decision...I like the sci-fi meets fantasy in warhammer, I like the world and the stories in LOTR and I like the diversity and the neverending...ness of D&D...but I know not which I prefer.

There's nothing really sci-fi in Warhammer (the on in this context is Warhammer Fantasy).
