    Took my first trip down to GW the other day to test out my army, only have about 500-600 points of finished stuff and played one short game of looting against IG.

    Defeated, obviusly, all I had was some firewarriors, drones, pathfinders and devilfish and a couple of crisis suits. Drones got wiped out quickly, pathfinders followed second as they were in a belltower to try and light up some targets they themselves fell pray to fire and ended up getting routed. Annoyingly with my markerlights gone the seekers on my devilfish became usless, which was killed later after rushing their infantry.

    One squad of fire warriors got killed trying to move into firing positions (lots of cover making it hard) the other one got a few kills but survived.

    The crisis suits were the best especially my commander, who were hopping up and down on the hill in the middle of the board taking shots at their static line to great effect.

    Commander had an AFP, large blast that ignores cover, very amusing.



    So lost, but learned where the points pay for themselves, and small squads are bad in morale rules with tau armour being what it is.




    I did hear a few comments of 'nicely painted tau' which was good.

    Still, every defeat is but a new lesson to further the path towards the greater good!

    IG are a really misleading army when I play them. You think you're winning because you're easily killing shit, but then hey come back with a strong bite. Plus IG players have been forced to learn tactics :p

    Still a few good lessons from ym first game:

    Bigger squads to avoid morale issues, protect markerlights, and crisis jumping in and out of cover is fun and profitable.

    Shall readjust my army for next time, by then my hammerhead should be finished and I can double the pathfinder squad's size for better chances of hitting markerlights and squad longevity.

    Aren't the Ld tests now rolled against the Commander's Ld? Only if your HQ dies or something do you revert to your normal unit's Ld.

    thats news to me.

    Only with inspiring presence I think and that needs LoS. though I am new to it so not sure about te details.

    Well who knows. They are already coming out with a new WH40k rulebook lol.
