Markerlight + Seeker Missile = pulped marines and nids all over the map
no - markerlight + railgun!
I once lost 30 stealers in 2 turns to 2 hammer heads-- that was harsh == though I took both down in the end, but hte rest of my army was shot to bits - he one!
note to self; buy hammerheads
hammer head are good - 2 of them with rail guns are very very effective
you already know about marker lights - effective use of them is devestating (taking the low BS of your troops and boosting it is great considering their basic range and firepower) also, you can use more than one marker light point at a time, so you can boost BS by 2 or 3 for one squad - against certain targets its well worth it
Also research the term - Mech Tau - its the most effective build for tau - essentailly its using transports and hammerheads, battle suits and warriors.
I alwasy heard hit and run, or very mobile was more effective than either brute mechanised or stationary armies
yes in mech you use the devilfish to move your troops round the map - whilst under the cover of railgun fire - from broadbands and hammer heads
*wonders why he is advising a tau player *
well that is most of the advice I have really - all collected from the wrong side of a tau gun
As you can see, the greater good cannot be quashed!
No because it's dead before it can try anything silly like that. Not to mention there are few Nid players out there anyway. Also I have faith iny my 3+ saves
Lawl I love when Tau players put all their effort into trying to overabuse their shooting. I once faced a player with a Skyray. Only 1 of the 6 seeker missiles hit, and killed anything rofl.
Still lost, but only because I had never played the new Tau and the guy came second overall in the tournament. Omg, the Dark Eldar guy who won, his army was so scarily powerful :S
Ah but Overread, knowing how your enemy works is the best way to unravel their plans :O
The benefit of skyrays is that if you have markerlight they can fire from behind cover, which will piss off anyone on the receiving end.
Yes. It did piss me off. A Tau's shooting face is as logn as all my phases put together rofl
After some googling for painting references i found this site:
not sure about how reliable it is, but beats standard fare even if there are shipping costs.
Might go for the £10 unboxed devilfish......
If I were you...and had the sufficient amount of money, I'd actually go for one of those "battleforce" sized box sets. You save a lot of money, even if you blow a whole lot at one go.
Unless you are going slow that is. If you are, then build up slowly, it's a lot more satisfying and fun imo. I actually want to start a second 40k army...but not sure whether to go Imperial Guard or Dark Eldar....
I know, I keep trying to balance the costs for gains, it is a lot of money, but if im going to get the stuff anyway (which im not sure of) then its a lot cheaper, and even cheaper on that site.
My initial thought is to go slow, and thats why I got fire warriors and am considering a devilfish because you can always use more of those.
Man I had a post all ready yesterday, but my net died halfway through, so let me try and repost what I remember from yesterday lol
I actually built my army up from "basic" --> "specialised" because to be honest you're army's going to end up being fielded and constructed depending on your playing style, preferences and what not.
I started with two tactical squads and then moved onto a Commander since HQ is necessary. Then I got some terminators to give them a small "heavy" capability, and then got my first transport, a Rhino, and then built up like that. I think this is usually the best idea because:
1) You're easily able to analyse what you will need next without wasting money buying unnecessary units early on and you can more easily move your army's construction to how you play.
2) You're army is well-rounded most of the time and you can take on any other type of opponent, because the basic guys are suited to fighting everything as they will always be used.
hmm met if your looking at dark eldar they are supposed to be getting a new codex and model line early to mid term next year!
(after the big new rule book this year!)
Yea surprisingly the DE interest me quite a bit even though their comepletely evil bastards who survive by living off souls and commit random torture, pillage and rape :S
Not only, that they are not a particularly common army, very hard to play well with, and have some really unique shizzles.
Yea was just reading the Dec 07 issue of WD. Saw an Apoc battlereport of Tau vs Blood Angels + Guard.
We totally slappd those Tau up. They had 700 points more aswell >_<. Tbh though...Mephiston is such a scary rampaging beast of doom, he was taking things out left right and centre by himself.
Dirty imperial lies!
Note: Ordered a devilfish off that site, seemed dodgy but I'll let you know how it goes, those discounts are interesting.
