I got my free copy of Final Fantasy XI Online today. The box is friggin' huge, due to it's contents. It's got the game, of course, in a standard DVD style case. It's also got the full-color instruction book, which is probably about as thick as a couple check-books stacked together. Both of these slip into a full color cardboard sleve.

Then there's the packet of information regarding the HDD, and of course, the HDD itself, which is packaged in an anti-static bag, pre-programmed with the game data (no installation) and tucked in nicely with foam.

The clincher? Since I've got FFXI on my PC, I'll likely never open the software. And I don't see any reason to open or use the HDD, since the only game that currently supports it is FFXI.

Who knows? I may have this thing the rest of my life in factory sealed packaging. Hahahaha.

I was a Beta Tester for Sony for the PS2 version. Beta Tested for about 2 or 3 months. Afterward, I sent the Beta Hard Disk Drive back, but they let us keep the software. As a thank you to the Beta Testers, they sent us each the retail game. It came in its retail box, so it looks as though it just came off the shelf.

Well I'm a member of a "by invitation only" group known as the GAP...the Gamer Advisory Panel.

There's lots of benefits, one of them obviously being BETA testing. But, there's plenty of games out there that seek BETA testers without you having to join any exclusive club. For example, I've been told that Middle Earth Online will be looking for BETA testers eventually. Here's hoping. :-D

:D This is something that really pissed me off. My mother keeps saying its not safe to play games online because of sexual peredators. Sometimes I really feel like kicking her ass. :vmad:

That's an interesting question. But I guess you'll just have to wait for XII, Zero.

Wow, you don't think much of your Mother either. Sheesh. How old are you?
