Fifth movie rumors

Needed a place to discuss the fifth film.

Ms. Dolores Umbridge. It's been a rumor that VERA DRAKE's Imelda Staunton was up for the role for a couple weeks (although I hadn't heard that rumor until today, myself), but today she appeared on ITV's Good Morning program and confirmed that she had the role. She also said she hasn't read the script yet, but will begin filming in January.
I really like this casting. Staunton can be stern and creepy. She needs to stretch out her face a little more, to look like a frog...

I heard from my cousin that the fifth film won't be coming out till 2007. Is that true?

 

I heard that too, summer of 2007

 

The movies come out a year and a half apart. 4 came out fall 2005, so 5 will come out spring of 2007, 6 will come out fall of 2008, and 7 will come out spring of 2010. That's the schedule they've set (last I heard), and I don't think they have any intention of changing it. They're all filmed a year apart, of course, to keep the ages of the kids right (or at least as right as you can, when the ages of the actors playing the main kids is 15 to 18).

I think Imelda Staunton could be a good Umbridge if they do it right, despite the fact I imagined her more squat and fat. Well, we'll all just have to see...

 

Man, that would stink if we would have to wait that long for the next film. The first two Harry Potter films came out a year apart so why is it taking so long for the new ones to come out?

 

Well, the first two involved a lot less work, I think. The new movies require a lot longer production process, so they take longer to get into theatres. I'm not sure how up-to-date my information is, but I have no doubt that it's not far off.

At least we won't have to wait as long for the next book.

 

It's confirmed that Staunton plays umbridge. Casting for Luna is being done now.

 

Well, they'd better get a good Luna. I swear, if she isn't loony....

Well, they are down to 400 possible Luna's out of the 15,000 who came ot the open audition... so they are getting there. This week, they are going to contact the ones out of those 400 who they'd like to see again.

They'd better be quick: filming is due to start in february

 

I thought it was in january... Oh well, I guess they must have pushed it back a month because they didn't have all the actors.

Do you know it they got any of the other parts that are new to this movie?

Also, Tonks and Shacklebolt have been casted, but nobody knows who, so this might be a rumor.

How long will we have to wait for the next book to come out?

 

Probably only until summer of 2007, but possibly later.

If I remember correctly, there were two years between book 5 and 6, so it's reasonable to assum that's what it'll be again. But then, that's the only basis for my prediction.

 

I thought that I read somewhere that she took some time off to spend with her kids between 5 & 6, so it could be sooner. Hopefully!

 

Yeah I remember it taking like 3 years from 5 to 6. 5 came out in 2002 and 6 came out in 2005. Hopefully the new book will be shorter to wait for.

 

Wasn't it two years? I could have sworn it was... Whatever.

How sick would it be if it came out this summer? I would love that.

Unfortunately, she'll probably wait at least two years so that as many people will jump on the band wagon as possible so that the release will break the records even more and make tons of money.... Gorram economics (or whatever)....

Yup, you're very right Lews Therin Telamon. The fifth book came out in the summer of 2003 and the sixth book came out in the summer of 2005. So it was two years; my mistake.

 

How is it no, then? If anything, what you said just means it'll take longer, which is the only point I was trying to make. But, you know, whatever....
