I finished rereading ASoIaF not long ago, and in my desperation for "anything else Martin" I picked up Fevre Dream. I was really skeptical, since it's kinda/sorta a vampire book. I've never been a huge vampire fan. Anyway, it was really good.

Doesn't have the twists and turns nor the horrifying realism that ASoIaF has (They killed Ned?! But he's like,...the main character!), but it's still a good read.

Has anyone read this book, or any other Martin books?

I've read 'Dreamsongs', his compendium of short fiction (I think it's called 'GRRM: A Retrospective' in the US?). It was interesting; the stories varied in quality but the best were really good, particularly his novella 'A Song for Lya', which was breathtaking. It also had commentaries by him on the way his writing developed, which were really interesting. So far that's all but I'd like to read Fevre Dream at some point, yours isn't the first good recommendation I've seen about it.

Yeah I read Dreamsongs too, it's good for the variety it contains and like Lyanna said some of the stories are great, 'A Song for Lya' in particular.

I'll have to get that next. I've run out of new books! The horror.
