Yes, that was what I thought. Those in the close up were females. (I think).
A few of the elves at Helm's Deep were women.
(either that or they were distubingly attractive men........)
hehe! Actually, I think it was a bit of both
Pretend this is Reservoir Dogs: NO personnal facts about yourself.
Well I think they are all 'black' people, no offense or discrimination, but isn't it weird that only some of the bad guys have a tinted-skin ?
Bringing back an old topic?
In Middle Earth, they were male soldiers. But in real life, they were probably women. PJ just neede some extras, and guess who was hanging around.
isengard111 is most likely correct. so i think they were just extras
I too had a distinct feeling that they were women. Even some of the people that played some background orcs were women so the possibility that easterlings could also have been is extremely likely.
I also had an odd feeling that some of the elves marchingto helms deep were to, and also some of the elves that appeared with Haldir in the forest in FOTR.
EYES LIKE A HAWK!
The actors that played the two Easterling's that almost found Frodo and Sam were most likely Men, But Female Easterlings. . . I like the sound of that.
i thought the exact thing they were girls in that part in the movie
Tolkien purists have mixed reactions to the (politically correct?) use of Arabic looking actors for the Easterlings, instead of Tolkien's original Asianic types, but non-purists think they look 'hot' in all that eye make-up. They're guys people, George Takai played one of those two GIRL Easterlings (I think).
I might point out that in one of the Riddimark scenes in the Dimhold vale when Theoden is talking to his men has atleast on female extra in the backround. That's female w/ beard!
