As there is a poll with the favourite female character i thought that it would be interesting to knwo what you think about the men in the story.
Im just including the main ones in the pool.

My vote goes to Robb. I name the way he was called The young wolf and that despite his young age was true leader adn general for his troops. Its a real shame that Martin got rid of him so quick and under such circumstances. I think that he had the potential to become an important piece in the story.

In second place without a doubt it goes to tyrion. The gnome is a genius and its impossible not to identify with him (or at least with his thoughts , im not that short)

For me it is, of course, Jaime. Like everyone else, I hated Jaime in AGOT - here was a villain who violated every taboo possible (he tries to kill children! Commits incest and treason! Kills Jory!) and who seemed utterly unredeemable. On my first read I didn't really differentiate between him and Cersei, who were, I thought, the clear "bad guys". I didn't notice the little subtleties like the warmth of his relationship with Tyrion, or the other ways in which he differed from Cersei.

It was only with his conversation with Catelyn in ACOK that I really became interested in him, and about halfway through ASOS I realised that I was looking forward to his chapters more than anyone else's. It's not that he's a "good guy" - he isn't. He's embittered and cynical, arrogant and impetuous, and also capable of acts of cruelty and ruthlessness. On the other hand he's loyal to his family, really loved Cersei while she tried to use him, was an incredibly talented fighter and (I hope) will become an equally talented leader, and also genuinely wants to be a better person, even to be someday known as "Goldenhand the Just". He may not ever achieve that or redeem himself, but he has the potential to do so and that makes him easily the most compelling character in the series.

Jon snow for me,i started liking the stark family from the begining and seems the only one left that is taking charge and has a greater chance for revenge. even though hes on the wall where he is to forget his past life. but also because i believe the greatest threat is gonna come from beyond the wall from the "others" and he wil be on the front line.he has the general sense of being the all around good guy compared to most of the characters.

I think Jon is far more boring because of his "all-round good guy" status, although the glimpses we see of him in AFFC suggest he's becoming a more complex and conflicted character (which will hopefully make him more interesting).

I also can't see him being the one to get "revenge" (assuming you mean revenge on the Lannisters). If anyone does that it'll be Arya or Sansa rather than Jon.

I voted Jon, because he always was the one who didn't belong, but still grew to be strong.

However, I must say, more than Jon I liked Jaqen H'ghar. He was awesome :D
Jaime is not "bad" either, as were Eddard and Robb, but both were dumb enough to get themselves killed. -.- How stupid. ;)

I agree with you that both Ned and Robb were killed by their poor political decisions, but i think that its better to die with honour than to live without it ( and its even better ti live with honour).
And i didnt listed Jaqen because till book 4 he almost didnt appear.

I also agree with Lyann that afer losing his hand Jaime became a mucho more interesting character. I would like him to marry Brienne!

She was being hanged, but then she shouted out a mysterious word which may have persuaded Catelyn to let her live.... at least, it's a possibility.

I also would like him and Brienne to end up together though I don't think it's likely to happy.

Jon might not get revenge in the sense that it is the only thing hes seeking, but i think he will get it one way or another. but hes not the kind of character that would seek revenge, more like he sees justice.

arya definatly wants revenge and she'll get it. she would have to be my fav female charater. I cant wait to see how the faceless men assassins thing goes for her. I love the whole Idea of the faceless men. especially the history of how they started in old valyria among the slaves.

Jon Snow was my favorite character in the beginning, but as soon as I read Jaime's chapters, gradually I changed my mind... I think now is my favorite one, 'cause Martin makes you like him, although you have every good reason to hate him!!

However, Tyrion is also a real interesting character!

I voted for Jaime, but thought about Jon also. I hope in the next couple books there's some fight scene between the two of them that involves both of them without shirts on. Preferably sweaty.

lol, I love that you consider killing Jory to be 'taboo'. So cute!

Well yeah - he's an awesome character and not only does he die, but he dies for very little reason. It's almost sadder than Ned's death for me.

With Gendry on the side? :D

    Rhaegar and Jaime huh?

Remember, Jaime did go visit Rhaegar (or vice versa) the night before the Battle of the Trident.

    Bow chicka, bow wow!

lol...Oh how the mighty have fallen. I'm sure Rhaegar/Jaime wouldn't appreciate us slandering their names. ;)
