I've only ever been to a handful of live concerts in my life, and am eager to go to more. (If my favourite bands would only come to my city of course! Grrr.)

However, I've had to mostly rely on experiencing these live performances online or on DVD. Usually it's just not the same as being there but there's often nothing like a well shot concert and having the sound cranked up to make you almost feel like you were.

Does anyone here have some favourite live performances that translated pretty well to the small screen? I'll start.

I went to see Paramore in 2009, my favorite ever.

Saw the Foo Fighters live a couple of years ago and they were amazing! But my favorite all time performance was at Wembly Stadium.

My favorite song and my other bf besides Johnny! Lol! :D

Tech N9ne was probably the best show I ever went to. the atmosphere when he stepped on stage was electric. it also translates well to dvd.

Nightwish when they came to one of the nearby cities. Seeing Empuu sneak up on Marco and give him a startle in the middle of a song was pretty funny.

I'd say the best live performance I've ever seen was probably Arkona. I was so excited before the concert, but was absolutely blown away at the actual show. Turisas played that night too, and they're always great live.

why must you make me so jealous all the time? I would love to see both of those bands live. granted I should've seen Turisas a few years ago cause they were touring with Cradle of Filth but sadly my buddy and me got there after the show started, only seeing a few songs from the second (can't remember what they were called but it's the band that HIM's guitarist started) and the last two bands (Nachtmystium and obviously CoF) and of course Turisas was the opener

Oh no, that really sucks that you missed getting to see Turisas! I hate that feeling when you miss out on a band you really wanted to see. I was really bummed not getting to see Motorhead a few years back. For whatever reason my boss at the time refused to give me the night off, so I missed out. Grumpiest night at work ever! If you ever get the chance though, definitely go see Arkona or Turisas. They're fantastic live. The singer of Arkona was a beast on stage (I mean that in the most flattering way possible of course). She's amazing. :)

honestly I'd like to see all those bands in a outside festival. I feel like they'd go absolutely nuts on stage, and I know I definitely want to see Amon Amarth at a festival like that cause they put on a nice show with mock battle and whatnot, which they don't do at least at the local concert venue here.

Dude, that's awesome! I wish. I missed a Sabaton show last year due to lack of funds. *sigh* would've been awesome.

Aw, such a bummer. I hate when lack of funds gets in the way of fun!

Besides the Queen shows I went to, the last one at the Irvine Meadows outdoor arena, the other concert that stands out is Robert Plant's 'Principle of Moments' tour that I went to when he played the Forum in Los Angeles. Perfect show, and perfect night!

Iron Maiden at Monsters of Rock, Donington, back in '92. I don't watch much live music as a general rule, so I'm glad I saw Maiden at least once before their flame burned out. Donington is a pit, but the classics made up for it (never saw a DVD of the performance, but considering what a money monster they are I'm sure it's on sale somewhere).

Wouldn't mind seeing Cannibal Corpse live. That'd be pretty cool

I saw the Rolling Stones last year, they were awesome. And Coldplay in 2012, amazing.
