It was a tight race between Aragorn, Gandalf & Sam, for me, though "Other" got serious consideration because of Bombadil.

Sam had the undying love and courage...a perfect example of friendship.

Aragorn had the leadership...an ideal King. A model of a man, and a true friend.

Bombadil, while certainly very memerable, wasn't capable of capping some of the qualities the others exuded, especially Sam.

Finally, it came down to Gandalf. Gandalf possessed many of the qualities I've already mentioned...some might say all of them. Gandalf was a true friend, loyal and loving...courageous and strong. A kind of being that could make a great king, were he of that heritage. But what made Gandalf stand apart for me was the cohesiveness he brought to it all. It was Gandalf, often times, who made others realize the potential within themselves...which is what made his own potential become so kinetic.

This is starting to spread quite a bit across the different characters. It will be interesting to see this poll after a few weeks. I'd also be interested to know why people chose who they did.

I went with Gimli because I think he was unique. He's short, but he's still a great warrior. Plus I just love his axes!

An axe man. Alright. Cool. I thought about that too...Gimli's toughness...his strength of body and will. Quite impressive.

Wow cool Legolas for once isn't winning!

I voted for Aragorn. He has always been my favourite. Its just his character is so noble and he isn't your typical good guy who is like oh yah I'm going to save the world. He just does what he does because he has to and he is good at what he does. Faramir is a close second.

I voted Aragorn. I agree with Strider, Faramir is close.

Well you get enough women together, and they can make anything happen...so don't be surprised if Legolas jumps up before this is all over. ;-)

God, who DIDN'T feel for the guy as his Father tells him, "Yes. I do wish that. ... That depends upon the manner in which you return."

I went with other, and my other would be Gil-Galad, he kicked Saurons @$$ for pete's sake. But If you talking only about main characters from FOTR and TTT and ROTK, and not LA. Then my other vote would still stand, because I would go with Elladan, Elrohir, I personally don't think the battle of the Pellenor would have been won if the Elladan and Elrohir weren't there. I mean c'mon, they rescued their Mom from hundreds and hundreds of orcs i moria. And then of course you have got Glorfindel who sved frodo's butt. But if you want just guys from the movie, I would go with Legolas.......

Good choices, EBM. Very good. If I start thinking outside the standard Fellowship a bit more, I start heading down the same path.

Well I am female but my vote would go eo Elrond, closely followed by Gil-Galad and Haldir. OK I like elves far more than any other race (you did ask).

I voted Aragorn, although it was a tough pick, because Faramir is a VERY close second. There was always something about him I liked.
