I started out liking Raistlin and then moved to favor Sturm. He was the gutsyest character of all taking a dragon and highlord with just a bow and sword. What do you think

I liked Tanis myself and Caramon.

Of the later series I'd have to say that Gilthas and Mina are up there on my list.

Of all the characters, the one I liked to read the most was Tas.

That was always my thinking. I can accept that Kender are less prone to the stresses of life than other races, but I always have had a hard time finding them believable when it comes down to a major crisis and they're skipping around acting like kids. . .

I always loved the character because he couldnt comprehend death. No matter how bad it got, his interests were always trivial. I thought it was played the best when someone like Flint died and he counldnt understand what that meant. He is also the most friendly character in the first six book. Everyone else is grumpy, drunk or borderline evil.

I grew to love the character of Caramon in Legends and later though.

I agree with the point about Caramon. Weis and Hickman did a great job of maturing that character after the original series drew to a close.

I liked Tas's comic relief.......... I kinda liked Flint too. Of course I loved Raistlin (I'm a sucker for magic user's), but my personal all time favourite is Dalamar....... that guy is awesome. Calm, intellegent, collected, powerful..... he's got it all.

Its really Tas's story. He's in more books than any other character.

He is probably my favorite too, followed closely by Raistlin. Although the scene of Sturms death is my favorite scene by far. There is some nice artwork dealing with it. http://fantasygallery.net/elmore/art_6.html

When I thought Tas died in the cataclysm in Legends I almost sent Weis and Hickman a nasty letter.

Then of course, at the end of Dragons of a Summer Flame. Its so touching, I cried. Its akin to the "everyone bowing to the hobbits" moment in ROTK. This unassuming happy-go-lucky little kender is honored for his sacrifice above all else. He's finally taken seriously. I well up just thinking about it.

I liked Laurana in the War of the Souls books.

I'd like to find more about Magius......... all I've read with him in it was the Legend of Huma.

Yes I liked Laurana as well, good strong character, and they did a wonderful job of progressing her maturity throughout the overall storyline.

It's been such a long time since I read Dragonlance books... It's strange that my favorite characters are mostly female (usually they are male ^^') and I can't even remember their names. Oh but I do. The other one was Kitiara but the other... Who was she again? The lady who knew Kang (was he a dragon or something like that?) and then I guess this lady died, too... This is really frustrating. Maybe I gotta read that book again...

But anyways. Kitiara was such a badass. I just didn't like the way she died.

I thought Laurana was one of the best characters in DragonLance. She really matured through the series to the War of Souls.

Has to be Raistlin. I just felt I could relate to the guy very early on, and the development of his character is incredibly intricate, on par with that of Haplo and Alfred from Death Gate (same authors).
After Raist... Fizban. I find it hard not to smile when he makes one of his appearances. ^_^

Fizban has to one of the best characters. He's good for a laugh at times because he does the dumbest things, like befreind a KENDER.

Female best character would definately have to go to Laurana. Tika bored me personally. Kitiara would have a great spin off if she didn't die.

Male best character is without a doubt Raistlin. His sheer power and calculating mind is awesome.

My favorite was always Raistlin. It seemed like every book he was in just had more life. He seemed to devolop and change more than the others, plus he was a mage and they are always cool.

:dragon: hi there, my personnal favorite will always be Raistlin but i was always rather found of Sturm, the righteousness about him, the honor that bound him to a strict and disciplined life, his utlimate self sacrifice is the fulfilling of his destiny, the weight of his heritage sometimes hard to bear.... always that inner conflict....
