OK all, I'm not saying this is any good, but let's try this for a start...
Woah, cool! It reminds me of some sort of tapestry.
Wicked skills to do that in paint, man!
I think that Paint was created for you Eustace. That is some pretty awesome work.
The colours... THEY BURN MY EYES!
Seriously though, I love your colour choices. Nice and vibrant!
Thanks all, I produced that one for an RP I'm currently running on another site, based on my books, you're not far off with the tapestry suggestion actually, Druid...
This next one is supposed to be a regimental colour flag with battle honours...
Those are cool. What makes you choose to use paint over anything else? Do you sketch those on paper first or just work straight from paint in the beginning?
The character with the sword and the horse? He's got my colors on, and my weapon. Not to mention my skin color.
Don't tell anyone I modeled for that. ;D
I think I'm enjoying the horse the most. There's just something about it.
You have a very distinctive artistic style there Eustace. It kind of reminds me of an artist that lives locally around here who hangs his paintings in our local library. Your style is much more colourful though. Nice!
Thank you all - no, I just go straight into paint and get on with it - a lot of this stuff is images from the book that I've got stuck in my head that I just have to get out... Cloud, the character that you evidently psychically modelled for there is a Life Guard, if anyone would be interested in this RP I can quite easily set up then you might consider playing one... though you'd probably have to change your moral code quite a bit, I should think! Btw the horse was a right pain so I'm glad it came out well!
Paint is really just the medium I have to hand (Oh, hard at me with me posh words...) but it's also a lot easier to use. I could probably achieve great effects with something like, say GIMP, but I don't have the patience to look into it - I want to produce the picture now, now after reading through a help file!
A couple more efforts since everyone seems to be enjoying them. I should point out the majority of these are evil characters (Although I suppose that's quite evident from the above pictures!). For some reason my good characters never seem to come off that well! A little background maybe as well - the top picture (In the thread and here, incidentally!) is of the Life Guard, the forerunners of the Hell Guard, the second picture down the thread. In the story, the Hell Guard, having graduated from massacre and wanton slaughter, then get something of an Alchemical upgrade to, well, see below!
First, perhaps mainly for cloud!
And then the Hell Guard...
Wow, those bulls (I think they're bulls anyway) are really good.
And do you use your mouse/trackpad or a tablet?
(It wasn't me that mentioned the tapestry, but PerFolmer)
Yep sorry bout that Druid, I only realised that after the last time I checked the thread - sorry! I use a mouse usually, I've got used to using a trackpad too, but it's somewhat more tricky! Anyway, I should go and have a see of someone else's work here...
Wow... I dunno how you manage with a mouse! Before I got my tablet I used the track pad on my laptop because I found a mouse to be an exercise in frustration.
Oh man, I hate laptop trackpads. Give me a mouse anyday. Trackpads drive me batty.
It certainly took a while to get used to it! Tablet would be something I'd like to try. OK, well, it's rude when you're asked for more not to provide, so...
OK this is another one from the RP I'm running elsewhere...
And this, like I said, was an attempt at some of the good guys from one of my books, as you can see, it didn't turn out too well!
Maybe it didn't work out as well as you might've hoped but it works well. You've got all the basics there, and the colour choices are nice. You seem to have an eye for colour schemes actually.
Here's one of my efforts using iPad.
Keep up the good work
Flippin eck - looks like I have some catching up to do! Very nice! Eph (if I may), the colour schemes did get a lot of thought, most of the characters are in one uniformed association or another, or the clothes show rank. Maybe I can direct you to the book I've mentioned in my sig, in which most of the characters feature, you never know you might enjoy that, too!
Go for it!
OK then - my book is a supernatural fantasy, something of a steampunk twinge to it perhaps... it's different to pretty much everything you've read, I can almost guarantee... Most of the evil characters you've seen on the previous pages feature in it as ghosts... let me pop up the link so you can see more...
