this is a newly published book by Christopher Paolini. It's a pretty good book, about a boy and his dragon, etc. etc. And the boy named eragon gets some sweet sword, etc. etc.

Then a bloody good character dies, etc. etc. I don't have a very good description, so you'll have to check out the book yourself.

Eragon was a great book! Now one of my favorites. I can't beleve it will be until Fall 2005 for Eldest.

I was just looking at it in the store not one hour ago. I think I'll read it, after I finish what I'm reading now.

    Re: Eragon

I also was looking at this book, perhaps sometime in the future I will read it. Couple questions though: Is this the only book written so far concerning this story, and has the author done any other works fantasy or non fantasy related?

I've actually heard speculation that these books will be the next 'Harry Potter', what do you guys think? What reading level is at?

I haven't read it either, but I recall hearing that this was the author's first book.

    Re: Eragon

This is the authors first book in a trilogy. His next book, "Eldest", is due fall 2005. First off, these will not be the next Harry Potter books. Harry Potter is nothing but junk. These defenetly remind be more of LotR. Plus, the reading level is beyond HP's. It's not as simple. Trust me, I wouldn't read a book remotley close to HP. I hate HP.

    Re: Eragon

I was refering to the popularity with the younger crowd when I said 'next HP'. Btw I agree with you, I'm not a large HP fan either. But HP is a popular series, and the speculation was that Eragon would be as popular.

    Re: Eragon

Oh, yes sorry. Eragon is already popular and when the movie hits theaters in 2005 I'd expect: 1. The movie is a hit and the books go flying off the shelves or 2. The movie is a disgrace to the book and only those who are into the series now will buy his books in his trilogy. Ethier could happen. This could be opular to the younger dcrowd, but I doubt it. The story is a bit harder to follow and the reading level is higher then HP's.

    Re: Eragon

I am half way through the book now, and I love it. I am greatly saddened that I have to wait a year for book 2. Not very organized our writer is hehehe j/k.
I don't think they would ever make it into a movie, though it would be kiind of kewl to see the special effects on Saphira.

    Re: Eragon

Oh there making a mvie, I think it's due late 2005. Though that book seems kind of hard to pull off, though then again they pulled of LotR. And I would rather wait and have a good book then have one that was rushed. Though I would love it if it came out earlier.

    Re: Eragon

I'm sure it will come out this summer along with 'Potter. That part was sad where that old guy, Brom was his name?, died. I think the website is alagaesia.com if you wanna go look for updates. :)
