Many of you will think this is a thread similar to my "China or Japan" thread I posted some time ago.In a way it is.I'd love to know though, what do you think about these two old neighbors who rarely got along during history.

England and France. The 100 Years War.The French and Indian War.The Napoleontian Wars.

Medieval France and England.Rennaisance and later France and England.

Who is your favorite, who was the coolest, the best, the most powerful one or the most civilized?

Tough decision for me,what about you though? ;)

England was probably the most powerful when it was at its highest peak so I voted England though I think I prefer France above England...

Well I would say none of them... both were our rivals. :D (Germany u know?)
That's like Deathmatch, England vs. France vs. Germany.

Ok, I'll just say France, because we share a border with them. ;)

I'm really glad to see supporters of both sides!

As for myself I simply can't choose, because I like many things in both countries.

For example let's go to Medieval France and England. They were 2 of the biggest powers of the time. They both had similar armies with valiant knights and paladins, feudarch system, they both had similar but at the same time different civilizations. They both had their ups and downs through the ages.

Then in during the 18th Century we had the Seven Years War where the Great Britain and France were fighting using Native Americans(Indians)and colonists(mainly the British)the outcome of this was the victory of Great Britain. Then the French helped the Americans against the British. Then after that Napoleon conquered almost all of Europe and France became a super-power of the time for a few decades.Great Britain though defeated Napoleon.

So this "battle" for supremacy lasted for centuries between the banner with the lions and the banner with the lillies(or whatever they are).

Perhaps I should choose England having received a bit of a British "education" when I was learning English since 3rd grade to almost the end of school, but again at school we were having French lessons for 6 years.

Both countries have hundreds of castles and the genuine European "medievalness" still lives in their villages.Hmmm...it's still tough to choose between France or England. But I love to see what you guys post!;)

Most defintely England... Both countries have amazingly rich histories, but there's just something about England that sends a tingle down my spine.

    England!! ^^
I adore this country! I was there a year ago, and I just loved it from the first moment I stepped on its lands xD France, however, does have some great sights.. but I think England is richer ^^

I've been to both France and many parts of england.... England is boring as hell... I've seen more interesting sights on the inside of a shoe box! lol No offense lol :p France has a beautiful country side and the north and the south are very different, it has a lot more to offer as a visitor. I actually found Scotland more interesting than England... Obviously lol

I voted for France.... Scotland is boring too though Anakin, I don't see what the big deal is lol But it's sucks less than England at least :p England is just flat and dull.... Nice people but as a tourist it's a big yawn... I guess I'm just too used to it so I find France more appealing.

Ever been to the lake district? the yorkshire dales? hills and valleys blooming under the summer sun? The forests, quiet in springtime or nestled under the winter snow? Just how much experience are you basing this on?

Yes been to the Yorkshire area and the lake district. I was most disappointed with the lake district as I had heard how nice it was. Okay for England it's nice but there are nicer things to see in the highlands of Scotland. The center of Scotland isn't up to much in my opinion, though others disagree, but the highlands are lovely.
