Has anyone heard any news on the EWS?
Size, material, blade, production date, or when it is going tobe available.
All I keep finding out is that it is in the pipeline for 2004.

Also it will the one from the PROLOUGE, not the one 's at Helm's deep[/COLOR]

That is all anyone knows right now. And I would expect it to be late 2004. I am pretty sure they said it would be the one from the prolouge of "The Fellowship of the Ring"

I didn't realize there were two color scmemes, that's pretty cool. I wonder if UC decides to do Legolas White Knives Limited Edition would they consider doing a Helm's Deep Elven Warrior Sword Limited Edition Limited too....

I didn't notice if the two types of elven warrior swords were different colors, but there is shape difference between them that I can't quite make out.

Are we sure there is two different swords? I read somewhere that the same props were used for both scenes...maybe I am wrong but I didn't think that there were two different props....

yea in the TTT they said they made the blade alot bigger becuase the stunt crew like it so much and with a bigger blade they could produce better fight scenes,i think the FOTR one is a little bit more slender and thin at the top, and the TTT one is much larger and wider blade...i could be completly wrong but see if anyone else heard this as well

In terms a design standpoint its conceiveable that the differrent color schemes on the armor would warrant a differrent color scheme for the sword. I wonder if the scabbards are differrent too... I really hope UC makes a EWS scabbard, that would be so cool!

    Halbarad,
Where does it say that the swords are differrent? I don't want to sound confrontational, just curious.

HI guys! I cant explian the differences exactly but they are mostly in shape, size and handle color. If you have extended editions of FOTR and TTT than look in the galleries on FOTR for gil-galads armies, and on ttt look at 3rd age elven warriors. The differences are subtle and i cant quite point them out but they are there! Hope this helps!

In The Lord of the Rings Fan Club Issue # 8 there is an article titled "Elven Armor & Weaponry. In discussing swords Richard Taylor of Weta said "At Helm's Deep, the Elven warriors use the same swords. We couldn't better the design, and we decided that we would say that the lineage of this weapon had stayed true for 3,000 years."

Maybe he meant that the elves kept the same type of sword (curved blade with a handle that is half the length of the sword), and wasn't talking about small details.

I wonder how they would display this sword?? they cant reallly do a plaque to hang because in the movies its pretty big so they will prob display it like hadafang with a tabletop or shelf top base! atleast i think so i mean i dont see how they could make a plaque for this unless they were to shorten it which im sure would make many unhappy including me!!!!

I heard long ago from Kit Rae that the Elven Warrior Sword would have a floor stand, similar to some Japanese swords:

(I don't suppose this is against the rules, since these guys aren't really competitors for BBB)

Thats a great idea!!! In my opinion the best design for a display yet. This would be perfect for the EWS! I would definatly buy. Anything to confirm this? anyone?

I KNOW! im hopin for a tabletop set-up like hadafang though! i mean the floor thing is a great idea but that probably wouldnt do good on carpet (wobbiling) so i really have no idea how it is going to be displayed! BUT i have a great idea for the plaque or whatever they do! they should silkscreen the elven shield from the prologue on the plaque or tabletop base that would be awesome!

They could make the area of the base extremely large to avoid wobbling. The result of a large base means that the desgin could be printed on to it.
    Oh and BTW, :stupid: (lol)

No because United has not supplied that information yet.
