I am writing a manual about how to elven warrior sword would have been used once it comes out. I was wondering if anyone could post pictures or discriptions of attacks, parries, combos, etc... Also, in my Weapons and armor book, near the elven sword of the last alliance, there is a passage taken from "Culrtural Fighting Styles Of Middle Earth-a Guide Book" could someone please tell me what this is and where to find it?

I'm pretty sure the book was put together by the producers of the movie to help them and the stunt men and women. Whether it will ever be published is anyone's guess.
This book, what's gonna happen about that? More info please...

The main idea with elven sword fighting was to keep the blade in perpetual motion

most of the footwork will be fencing style (short advances and retreats with the emphesis on being just out of your opponents reach and stepping in it very briefly to make an attack) with more of an oriental flow.

I'll post a new thread when it is done in one to three months. You can send me e-mail addresses and get the word document (as it probably will not be published professionately).

i believe that the EWS was inspired by a weapon called a Pudao (Paudo maybe)....you might want to do a search on Puado's fighting technique...but there are some Pudaos that resemble Cid's weapon in FF7 (i believe it was the Venus Gosple...not sure tho)

let us know when this gets done!...sounds sweet!!!!

If anyone is still reading this, I just want you to know that I still intend to do this. All I have to do is get my hands on an EWS and I can get to work. The point is, I intend to keep my word on this matter.

Why not just grab a weapon or broomstick of similar length so you can work on hand placement and grips and movements etc? Holding up the project when a similar sized prop would suffice could keep you waiting quite a long time.

I guess that will have to do for the time being. I'll figure out the style with something of like size, but the manual's pictures will require a mockup of at least a recognizeable iconigraphic sillohuette.
