OK, who do you think would win?
Each other, ofcourse !
Now, while i'd like to say Jaime Lannister would win, it'd probably be Gregor or Barristan The Bold (in his prime).
I think it'd be Barristan or Jaime, personally... and possibly Syrio Forel. I can't vote!
i went with barristan selmy...(in his prime...) i love the scene where he fight's the titan's bastard with his staff and totally schools him...great stuff...muhahaha...
Syrio wouild win if nobody was armoured...he'd poke all their eyes out in four seconds flat.
With armour, probably the Mountain, unfortunately.
Assuming they're all armed with their usual swords, not pillows or something...
I voted for Selmy, though I think that the Hound would whip his brother.
Really ? Im not sure. Hopefully we'll see a confrontation with the Clegane's. Wouldn't that be a great scene ! I love The Hound, I think he's a great character. But Gregor is, as his name implies, a Mountain. And would probably beat him on strength (which is how the Hound overcomes his opponents). Perhaps a faster fighter, like Syrio, would have a better chance.
Syrio got my vote. He's such a character! I think he's whoop everyone's a$$!
The Hound is tough as nails.
It's interesting, because we have seen the Hound hold his own agaist his brother without the Mountain gaining the upper hand--it says that Sandor had more than one chance to attack Gregor's unarmoured head, but chose not to , implying that he was winning.
Jaime is an unknown quantity, because we've never actually seen him in top condition.
We should character-discuss one of them next month.
Jaime is good, but he's not that good. It's explained in the books that he was only selected to be in the King's Guard early on was for political reasons.
Syrio we haven't seen much really, one battle scene with some amateurish guards and the outcome uncertain. But I'd say he is fairly kickass, and could possibly be a faceless man(Jaqen H'ghar).
I just love the Hound's attitude, he's just a regular badass. Now whether he would win vs. everyone here, I doubt it. Because his brother Gregor isn't the toughest either, he was getting ripped to shreds against the Red Viper, until he got cocky.
The Mountain That Rides was getting creamed by the Oberyn Martell, and his brother, as already stated.
Brienne can hold her own against Jaime, but Jaime was messing with her at first.
Barristan seems to be the most likely canditate to win out of the ones listed here. He's near 200 or so and he's still whipping ass.
But, my vote goes for the Hound because he's one of my favorites.
My reasoning for voting for Barriston is this; Though we've not really witnessed him in his full capacity (Sword and shield) we have read about him doing some pretty incredible things despite his old age. 1. When he was dismissed from the King's Guard he discarded his sword and after leaving the throne room killed multiple (forget the number) armed guards with his bare hands. 2. He, using his quarter staff, defeted what's his name (can't remember) defending Dany shortly before his true identity was revealed. If I remember correctly Jorah Mormont made the comment that the man Selmy defeated was one of the best known swordsmen.
Where did you get this information from ? I don't recall reading he's nearly two hundred. Not that I don't believe you, but do you a quote or anything to back that up ?
How about we discuss Jaime Lannister, I'll start one up now
Barriston Selmy was 63, I believe, when he was removed from the King's Guard. I remember Jaime reading it out of that book that the Commander of the King's Guards writes in.
Haha, that's a long ways off 200. Anyway, Barristan The Bold would probably wipe the floor with half of these young whipper-snappers.
Yeah, I was joking. That's why it's at an absurd number like 200.
He is rather old. His character reminds me somewhat of Druss from Gemmell's work. Very noble, perhaps over the hill, and a bad ass.
I had to go with Ser Barristan the Bold, he wasnt the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for nothing! ( Turin also raises some good points) He also led the Kingsguard when being a member of was only secured for the Best knights in the Seven Kingdoms.....
Still... Syrio Forel's pretty good too...
