I know, there's heaps of information. Isn't it amazing what lengths some DL lovers will go to? It kind of makes me feel mediocre in the love list :p

I know that feeling! I love DL but I haven't read many of the books aside from the core novels :(

I'm exactly the same. I've read a few series from the teens section at the library when all the others were out on loan. I have to admit the majority were a let down.

I have seen a lot of DL books around. I just never knew how to begin... as in what order to read them in.

Also...the cover pages sort of put me off (yes...don't just a book by its cover...but still).

So can you give me some hints as to where to start to get into the whole DL business?

Edit: lol..ok I visited Wizards of the Coast website, and found a reading order :p

I have in e-book format the Chronicles, Legends, Elven Nations, and the War of Souls, but I'm reading something else now. So I guess I'll wait a litle bit more before I get into the series.

I can't count the amount of times I have read Chronicles & Legends. I have heard so many people criticise the books as being expanded Dungeons & Dragons adventures etc but in my opinion if they are entertaining I don't care how the plots / ideas originated. It is the characters that bring these stories to life - from the surly Flint and his interaction with the irrespressible kender, to the dark yet magnetic personality of Raistlin and his interaction with his loyal brother - I could go on and on. These books are on my must be read annually list.

I read DL when I was a teenager and found them to be written well but some of the new cast was rather annoying. I like the old cast of Strum, Tika, Goldmoon, Rastlin, and Caramon. My favorite character out of the entire series would have to be Goldmoon. My second favorite would have to be Mina and her minotaur friend Galdar. I enjoyed War of the Souls and found it to be an enchanting storyline.

I've read most of the series and I'm trying to find the rest. I real have enjoyed the books that I've read out of Dragonlance and Tas is definatly my favorite character so far.

True...I have the Dragons of a New Age series as well as the Dhamon Saga and Lake of Death...they were mediocre...and not that great of a read.

I've read the most of the Dragonlance by Weis & Hickman (actually, I've read almost everything they wrote together :)) and I'm a huge fan but I have to say I'm put off by follow-ups from other authors. Weis alone is fine (she created Raist so her writing about him is fantastic), but the books by her and her husband... just can't get through these things, it needs to be my fav duo to really enjoy it!

Weis and Hickman are the only team for the DragonLance series. Period. Nobody else compares to what they have done with the cast. The rest of the authors who try to pick up where they left off are a disappointment. Sorry to say that but they are. Dragonlance is pretty much done with now, right? Then again we have the second gerneation which isn't even worth the time to read. Most of those characters are take off from the original cast.

I like the War of Soul series and what comes after that. I think those characters aren't just shades of the original cast.

I have just finished the dragonlance chronicles and i lloved the books....themiddle of winter night go a little bit boring but i got throught it...one of my favorite characters and the least likely is Raistlin Majere Master of Past and Present...also known as Fistandantilus. I am at the end of time of the twins and i love the books and i cant wait to read more...i hope it lasts longer than you guys make it sound...how many of them do you think are written my margaret wies and tracy hickman..since you guys say that they are the only good writeers for dragonlance.

So far from what i've read Legends - Book one: of Time of the Twins I'm not getting hooked and i'm already on page 395. It has dragged rather much. I do hope it will become more exciting by the end.
