Indeed. Plus it should be noted that Spyro is portrayed as rather young in most games. Though that does raise the question of, can you do things (plot wise) with a smaller dragon than you can't with a larger one?
From what I can remember, the first book that woke up my love of dragons was "Eragon", reading how the main one begins to bond with his dragon friend, how they understand each other better without words and their journeys! As a child, I couldn't come to terms with the fact that there are no dragons in our world. I remember that after reading the book, I found out about the movie and was disappointed with how they spoiled the whole story ... The only reason I watched it until the end was the image of the dragon
