Where there's life there's hope. He's been trying different treatments in an effort to find one that will slow the process, so he may still have a few more productive years ahead of him. It wouldn't matter to me if he didn't write again; books are unimportant when faced with this kind of thing.

I've not read all the post's in this thread but I wanted to post in here because I am a fan of Pratchett I've never been disappointed in anything of his that I've read I always find myself laughing out loud. I love Death Susan The Witches Vimes the Guards and the Wtches to name but a few.

I saw Prachett on T.V. this morning talking about the documentary tomorrow night and he is such a positive inspirational man. My heart goes out to him :)

Vimes is my favourite character, along with Nobby Nobbs. I hope TP finds something that gives him comfort...

Yeah, they're funny. Carrot is too, in his own way, and all the supporting characters, but Vimes is my fave. Feet of Clay and Nightwatch are my two favourite Discworld novels.:)

Granny and Nanny work extremely well together too, Maskerade and Witches Abroad are still two of my favourites. But most of the best books are Guard novels.

Looking forward to the documentary tomorrow.

And Death, of course. The books wouldn't be the same without good ol' Death...^^

Yeah the auditors are very funny when the start, um, visiting at the end of theif of time (reread it recently lol). I love how they try to rationalize the signs and stuff ^.^

I love Nanny Ogg, she's just so funny and works brilliantly with Granny Weatherwax. My all time favourite character is Death though, and Death of Rats has his funny moments too of course :)

I have read a fair bit of Discworld (still working my way through :))
And I must say I agree with you, the wizards are the best. I like the night watch and the witches a lot as well, and Rincewind is funny too. And of course the books where Death plays a major part, he rocks.
But the wizards are kick-ass! I just love Ridcully so much! :D

I have a cat called Rincewind...
it's embarassing taking him to the vet..have to always try and explain...
it's because he's very, very stupid, but acts as if he knows something extremely dangerous....

I do love the Discworld books, and am especially a fan of Nanny Ogg :)
Many moons ago (getting on for 12 years back now) I used to work in a bookshop, and Mr P. came in to do a book signing...and he was so utterly foul to all the staff...that it *really* put me off his books for a good long while. Finally I learned to disassociate the man from the words though, and carried on enjoying Discworld even though I never really could put his actions out of my mind.

I do, of course, wish him well in his fight :)

He was indeed, probably just having a very bad day but it's one of those things that's always stuck with me! He was a bit of hero of mine before then :(

I suppose it's one of the perils of being a 'celebrity'. If us mortals act like gits it's par for the course, yet we expect those in the public eye to be shiny happy souls with no worries of their own. There's no excuse for vile behaviour of course, but I suppose everyone's entitled to an off day. I know I have plenty. Lucky I'm not famous.:D

Absolutely, and they do say never meet your heroes!! You know I don't even want to say what he did/said, as it might taint him for other people, it was just one of those things that really sticks with you, y'know? when you should be big enough to let it go, LOL. That was one of the coolest things about working in that bookshop, we had loads of signings, and most of them were wicked :) Happy Days.

Pratchett isn't my favourite fantasy writer, but I think he's really good. I like his wizards, night watch ... and Death of course :D
