Try and name all the differences you can think of between The Silmarillion and Book of Lost Tales. A couple ones to start it off:

(Edit: Made Master list of what differences we have collected so far, for anyone new to the thread. :) )

    Master List:

    -Noldor Elves are called Gnomes
    -Beren is an gnome.
    -Thingol is called Tinwelint.
    -Melian is called Gwendeling.
-Beleg Strongbow plays a much bigger role in BoLT.
    -Nienor is called Nienori
    -Melkor : Melko
-Beren was never captured by Sauron in the BoLT. And where did that cat come from?
    -Angband : Angbandi
    -Hurin : Urin
-Luthien is known as 'Tinuviel Princess of Fairies'
-Huan died in the Sil. He did not in the BoLT.
    -Ungoliant is called Ungweliante
-The character Dairon (Luthiens brother in BoLT)
    -Manwe's Eagles called Hawks
    -Dwarves killing Balrogs
-Different ammount of Balrogs between versions

    - The whole Elfwine of England bit at the end wasn't used in the Sil. (I found this chapter quite interesting, one of the few places where you see Tolkien directly relating to Europe.)

    - Luthien is known as 'Tinuviel Princess of Fairies'

she was refered to as Tinuviel in the sil as well, if I am not mistaken. The diff. is the the BoLT does not call her Luthien.

Nope. Book of Lost Tales is the first two editions of the History of Middle Earth Series. Unfinished Tales was published on its own.

BoLT is the first draft (kinda) of The Silmarillion, written by Tolkien way back in his younger days (after WWI I believe). Unfinished Tales is a collection of information on different topics from Tolkiens writings.

There where those cool gnomes that lived in the Mines with big Hammers at Gondolin. They killed a whole bunch of Balrogs. It dosn't not mention them in the Sillmarillion but it sort of passes over most of the fights there.
