I don't recall people being able to delete their own posts.

I've seen people who have been able to delete their own posts, but I can't work out how to do it either.

Yeah, that's true... I was wondering about that. When there's a deleted post, sometimes it says "This post has been deleted by admin/mod," but sometimes it says "This post has been deleted by username."

The person who deleted it may have been a moderator at the time, we've had a few come and go that you may not recognize. We also have deleted threads on request. But for as far back as I can recall the average users do not have the ability to delete posts.

Actually, when I first joined, you could delete your own posts. I asked Boomerang about it when I noticed that I no longer could. He seemed not to realize that it had been possible either. But, I assure you it was at one time. I had deleted my own post a couple of times because I accidently double posted. I've never been a moderator.

Boom did say, the reason you couldn't delete your own posts was so the mods could keep track of anything that might have caused "a ripple in the boards". That makes sense to me. Someone could post something inappropriate and the delete and deny it. It's better this way, for that reason alone. ;)

I don't think I can delete anymore...I used to be able to delete them. I think it is very handy altho I think you should only be able to delete your last post, cause people could be cheating in a debate if they were able to delete posts they made by making accusation or making insults...later deleting them and then pretend they never did such a thing.

Yes...I used to be able to delete aswell. Now it's gone. It's really useful for double posts!

true. What I also didn't like especially when threads had to be deleted in the SW guild is that there was always a note left that a thread has been deleted...is that really necessary?
