I hope you aren't actually serious, because that's the kind of attitude that pisses me off.

Of course I'm serious  It's not a negative reflection on (religious) individuals who present their own thoughts on an issue rather than slavishly quote the doctrine of others...

Take the gay issue.. just because current/past church leaders choose to interpret the bible (at best another human interpretation) in a particular way doesn't mean that that in itself is justification for prejudice. If the individual doesn't like homosexuality they should voice their personal homophobia not hide behind the skirts of mother church. A religious homophobe is not morally justified by the twisted views of it's church leaders.

Ask away although I'm not on often :)

I can see this turning into an actual debate rather than a back and forth chat. Fyi if that happens and you find your post has disappeared, it's coz we've moved it into the debating thread.

...and yet more abuse of power. So pathetic really.

Complaint made about post in the "Polls" area, banned in the "Debate" area. Way to use that reasoning power. Course, no one will own up to the banning...cause everyone's a coward with "net power", but hell...shouldn't really expect anything more. Logic, reasoning and just plain intelligence seem to have become extinct.

Then Big Daddy bitching about A - B conversations he's just gotta comment on like a 3 year old. Takes exception to everyone not bowing down to his moral superiority. Jr a$$clown editing and deleting every third post that he deems inappropriate, while being as offensive as those he censors. So glad the world doesn't work on this moral compass...course, maybe it does. It would probably explain the state of things. Listen f-sticks. Just because you have kids and wives doesn't make you morally, ethically or even remotely superior to anyone. You're glorified internet tough guys. Deal with it and get over yourselves.

See that last sentence of your quoted post? The deal with it and get over yourself part? Listen to your own advice.

And your use of that smilie was cute. Luckily, there's one that applies to your how your incessant whining and complaining makes you look. :tool:

    And just a footnote...

Anyone who ends up banned usually falls to ME. Mods don't have the power to ban. Admins do, which would mean me, Nienor and of course CBSwords. Nienor will rarely ban anyone outright without consulting me, as I am the Forum Manager; although if she did she would always have 110% of my support as we have a trust and friendship that spans over 8 years on this forum. Banning isn't handed out lightly, easily nor indiscriminately.

To get to the point of a ban, apart from blatant and obvious spammers, it usually takes multiple complaints lodged by members and staff. Longstanding members are usually cut some slack, especially when being trolled, and may or may not be suspended in a certain circumstance, even though a newer, more abrasive member may. Just because two people are having a quarrel it doesn't necessarily mean that both members will be banned. And that's the way it is, that's life and "life ain't always fair".

So to be clear, we run the forum in a manner that WE think is fair. And in the end that's all that matters. People join and remain in this forum for a reason; because they like the atmosphere and the people here. And to be honest the forum is the way it is in large part BECAUSE of the staff that has in large part contributed to its forming.

This isn't a "public forum", and this isn't a democracy. This is a PRIVATE forum open to the public. See the difference. You have to be an approved member to post here. there are no anonymous posters. You are guests in our house, and most people behave accordingly.

Occasionally you have an unruly guest; sometimes you have to point out their bad behaviour, sometimes you have to give a "time-out" and sadly, sometimes you have to eject them. And it's usually for the good of the forum as a whole. There are many occasions when a disciplined member months or years later has approached me and said, "you know, I hated you when you banned me for that week but in retrospect I realize I acted like an ass and I would have banned me, too".

It comes down to the adage, "You can't please everyone", because with some people there is no pleasing. But we try our best and our consciences are clear.
