Overall it wasn't much of an inconvenience, but EB games wouldn't let me buy Dead Space without an I.D. that has my birthday on it. I'm 17 FFS is it that hard to tell!?! I even have a college Bus Pas that they didn't accept as valid I.D.

So I go over to HMV and they accept my college I.D. and I buy the game. All a big hassle on EB games fault that just ended up costing EB games money. I should've gone back to EB after I got it at HMV and been like "You just lost a $60 sale bitchez!!!"

That is gay. Not only because you're obviously 17, but because- who cares?! if you want to give them business they should take it >_>

They really don't care about age here, unless it is an R18+ game though, and even then they only glance to see if you look old enough.

actually its a good thing for games!
ever since the GTA san andreas problem (especially in the USA) shops are being more strict with game ratings - a game like a film has an age rating for a reason. Most shops will have a list of things they will accept as id and so they are limited by what they can accept - its not a case that they don't want your custom, but more a case that they don't want you mum/dad coming back to sue them for selling their child a violent game that is rated for an older child.

And if you think the ratings are harsh - in the early days red alert was an 18 (oh the joys of parents not fully understanding age ratings ;) :)) today It would hardly get a 15 rating - so times are more lenient.

Still, I had legitimate I.D. on me, they just didn't seem to think college I.D. was good enough.

It just all seems so pointless on their fault because I just ended up getting the game at another store.

But they weren't doing anything illegal and I had the I.D. to prove it.

but Ids are limited - most pubs and bars won't take a student id as proof of age.

Student IDs are sooooooooooooo easy to fake. When I worked in clubs people were always complaining that we wouldn't accept anything except passport, drivers license or Garda (police) Age Card. We had a whole tray of fake IDs, one guy even tried to use one with the name Rudolph D. Reindeer...

    I found a good Id is a beard ;)
most places never ask if you go with a beard -- that is a real one not a stickon ;)
