This movie looks super good. I'm not normally on e for horror movies, but I'd really like to see this. Is anyone else playing to catch it?

Definitely! As a huge fan of horror movies this is a must-see for me, although some bits in the trailer look (like they have the potential to be) a little cheesy, in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of CGI ghosts, but I'd give these ones a chance. :D

I want to give it a try. I like Del Toro's other works, especially Pans Labyrinths.

I really liked 'Pan's Labyrinth' myself and 'Hellboy', especially the second one.

Del Toro carefully said that this isn't a horror film, not in the modern sense. His words. This film is supposed to be more similar to older films like Jayne Eyre, Wuthering Heights. So he says it's Gothic romance. The reason it has cheesy lines is because he really wants to capture what older movies were like, in every way. The colour of the film has been manipulated with computers to give it that feel of these films. People said Pacific Rim had the same "problems", because he tried to recreate a 50's monster movie with inspiration from manga.

Gothic romance (although I'm inclined to say Gothic horror, but there seems to be a difference (also I must admit I've never read Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights)) makes it sound even better than horror. Although I love horror films I also love seeing something new, as, to be honest, horror films which keep playing with the same features do get boring after a while.

Well, since this is an old thread, I've already seen it. And I love it. I'm a sucker for Goth Drama anyway, you know, so it's not really that surprising. I also loved Pan's labyrinth, is definitely among my favorites, so I think I'm starting to develop and interest in Del Toro, probably should see more movies from him.

Anyways, I loved the aesthetics, the Drama, the camera, beginning to end. Not to mention I'd love to live in a House like Crimson's Peak... without the ghost and murder attempts, of course. I'd even have it all broken and old as it is. It's gorgeous, god damn it.

Despite not being a big fan of Tom Hiddleston, I really enjoyed this film, particularly for it's visual style. It's no Pan's Labyrinth, but still an underrated gem worth seeing.

I liked it. I liked the tone. And it looked beautiful. Edith's sleeves were pretty much an extra character in the film.
