Ok, I'm new to this forum so I don't want to piss people off right off the bat... but, I really think the cover artwork on these books is pretty weak. Or maybe it's just me... I just really doesn't reflect what I have in my head of what the people look like and it seems a bit "cheesy". I'm looking at the cover of The Dragon Reborn right now and Rand looks like some kind of 70's disco queen and Perrin looks like Fabio's younger brother. Anyone agree or am I on my own here...?

BTW, I'm just finishing The Dragon Reborn and I am enjoying the series very much. I think it's just a plain fun... the writing is a bit repetitive at times but the story is fun and has a fast pace :)

Well, I would have to say that I didn't really like EotW's cover. It just didn't seem right. GH was better, except they didn't make Loial look one bit like an Ogier. DR was pretty good, I like how they made the Aiel and Callandor (sp?) look. SR I have no issues with either. As for the other covers, I have seen them, but I don't know what scene they are portraying, so I can't really say if there that good or not.

Well, I have never really been a fan of them, but I think it's kinda the classic Conan(sp?) style.

I often wondered if the artist read the story before doing the cover art. Some aspects are good, but many details are out of place.

Here is GH cover art. I went back and looked at my cover this morning, and it has really started annoying me. Can you tell that someone might mistake that for a Trolloc? The only reason I can tell its an Ogier is because he has tufted ears and is carring a book.

He looks like neither Ogier or Trolloc to me. He looks no larger than rand. I also can never tell for sure wich girl they are portraying, the artwork makes them all look the same.

I agree, it it should be Selene aka Lanfear. But who knows, the scene is not really depicting anything I specifically remember from the book. Dark hair and fair skin could any number of women, including Engwen. Anyway, it's just not a great picture whoever it is.

I agree. The cover art on these books is disappointing. On some of them, if you look closely, it looks like the trollocs are just men with horned helmets!

The thing in the background would be, I would suppose. Yea, that's definately Lanfear. There was no one else there...

Ya but that is not how the scene was described in the book. They weren't at a cliff, where are the horses? Where's Hurin? I gotta say that I never took those for Trollocs either, if you look at the back of the book you get a better look. I swear it's a man in armor.

I don't think that the covers are exact matches to how a scene is described in the book. The cover of The Dragon Rebon for example. Where the heck did that come from? Why does Lan carry 2 swords on the cover of EotW? Heh. o well

A good example of this would be the cover art for Fires of Heaven...

I was confused by the artwork on EoTW when I bought the book. Moiraine looks like a hobbit on the cover. I figured that there were halflings in the book. After awhile I figured out Moiraine was merely petite and not a hobbit.

I don't think the cover artwork is that bad. It could be worse. In fact, it is- Stupid Orbit Books (who publish the WOT series in australia and britain maybe) have replaced the old cover artwork with a picture of the serpent and the wheel. It started with book ten, and now all the new reprints have got this uniform cover (in different colours. ANY artwork is better than that.
