There's a bunch of new stuff coming airing in 2009, but a tonne of sequels that I'm sure a lot of us have been itching to see in the mix too.
I'll get the exact air dates and post them as soon as I can.

    I personally am most looking forward to;
    Hajime no Ippo Season 2.
Season 1 was very good and very close to the manga (which is brilliant) so it's only natural that Seaso 2 is very highly anticipated by many.

Asakiyumemishi - The Tale of Genji
Wikipedia Synopsis: The work recounts the life of a son of a Japanese emperor, known to readers as Hikaru Genji, or "Shining Genji". Neither appellation is his actual name: Genji (源氏, Genji) is simply another way to read the Chinese characters for the real-life Minamoto clan (源の氏, Minamoto-no-Uji), to which Genji was made to belong. For political reasons, Genji is relegated to commoner status (by being given the surname Minamoto) and begins a career as an imperial officer.
The tale concentrates on Genji’s romantic life and describes the customs of the aristocratic society of the time. Much is made of Genji’s good looks. His most important personality trait is the loyalty he shows to all the women in his life, as he never abandons any of his wives. When he finally becomes the most powerful man in the capital, he moves into a palace and provides for each of them.

This probably sounds very weak, but I'm a sucker for a historic romance, so I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for this one.

    Afro Samurai: RESURRECTION
I'm not particularly sure why I really want to see this. I think after watching the first one I thought "if it weren't for the Afro, this wouldn't be all that special". That's not to say it's not a good anime, it's just not very great.

Bleach - Fade to Black: Kimi no Na wo Yobu
I love Bleach - 'nuf said.

    Chocolate Underground the Movie
The previously announced Chocolate Underground anime adaptation of Alex Shearer’s Bootleg novel will be heading to Japanese theaters this January. The satirical novel follows two English boys who create a bootleg chocolate factory after their country bans chocolate.
Well what can I say? You need at least one cute movie a year, right?

    Fullmetal Alchemist 2
Naturally, I don't need to explain this choice at all.

Yep, ever since I've found about the new Ippo season I've been in high spirits. Goddamnit it's going to be amazing! ITAGAKIMASUUU!

A new FMA will be fun to see.

There's no point in more Afro Samurai coming out since it sucks lol

Haha well sometimes it's just too hard NOT to watch a sequel. With the majority of sequels to ANYTHING sucking, people still watch 'em otherwise the story feels incomplete and it's irritating.

Shikashi! Ippo is sure to be marvelous as it follows the manga and the manga rules.
Following the same theory, Season 2 of Vampire Knight - Vampire Knight Guilty is probably awesome as well. It's started airing already, but I'm holding off for a good team to sub it - C a n N o t W a i t.

chocolate underground reminds me of a really poor program (I think it appeared on one of the channels during kids hour) which was about the government banning chocolate as well - using special sniffer vans to seek out and find any hidden chocolate.

what is with all the banning?
is there something building up - a real fear that it could be banned?
is the media responding to some hidden stimulus?
*starts stockpiling chocolate just in case*
