^ That was how I started reading them and I'm glad because I would've never found the WoT if it wasn't for the split kid's books.

This might be a stupid question, but when everyone says 'Asmo' is that just short for Asmodean or a whole other character?

Question: *Spoilers* Was Ishamael ever imprisoned with the rest of the forsaken? I always thought he was but I'm in doubt now. He was at least at work long before the others began to be released, he was manipulating the hunt for the dragon years before the story started with all the using fain and things. but also he claims to have set other events before, such as the Aiel maidens with the message from the blight, and Jain Farstrider ending up in the stedding with the same tale. And yet he goes further, claiming responsibility for numerous past events, including manipulation of Hawkwing and as far back as the trolloc wars. At first I just thought he may have got an early parole but this is far longer ago than makes sense with being sealed in the dark ones prison like the rest. The earliest example I could come up with where ishy was free was day one. The war of shadow over, the dark one sealed away with the forsaken and the male aes sedai nicely going mad, and ishy turns up to say Hi to lew therin. It cant just be a vision like the one over shadar logoth to inspire the trollocs, he actually channels to heal lews therin enough to give him clarity. So there we have it, Ishy was never imprisoned. But then, why didnt he just pop on down to the eye of the world right away and use the power to free the dark one, why not have a hand in every throneroom there is, he's had a good three thousand years to get it done.

I don't know if I'm allowed to respond to other people's questions, or if only Elan can, if that's so then sorry.

Who better to tell us about one of the Forsaken than another Forsaken? From The Shadow Rising, Chapter 26:

And according to TarValon.net, according to the Big White Book (I don't have it myself so this is second hand) that:

So I guess it's unanimous. Ishamael was only partially trapped in the Bore, and was able to "visit" the real world every now and then.

    Good answer thanks.

And no elan isnt the onyl one to answer questions, this is just a Q & A thread, where if your knowledge ends others can help out, or discuss. Mainly its unraveller who answers as the resident WoT-ist but anyone can answer.

    I have a question!

I was re-reading Crossroads of Twilight, and there's the chapter "A Mark" where Alviarin comes back to the Tower. She said that she had been to Tremalking, and to Shadar Logoth, but why did she go to Tremalking? Did she go somewhere else as well? I can't remember why and where she went, if we know at all.

    So does anyone recall?

yes i was rereading CoT too, im not sure why she went to tremalking, probably on orders from the forsaken and in some Darkfriend plot we'll never know.

All that i can think of off hand is that the female Choedal Kal (forgive my spelling) is buried on tremalking, she may have been sent to investigate it with the flare of the power going off. But then, to use the giant statue is fatal unless done through the access keys like with rand and nynaeve.

maybe it was some plot to figure out how the access keys work so the forsaken can use the choedal Kal whenever they like. if so was anyone sent to invvestigate the statue in cairhien too?

more quetions than answers im afraid.

Yeah... I guess it's not even a "read and find out" in this case. Pity. Not that it's really important, I guess. I just like to know. :D

I have been reading KoD spoilers like crazy. We find out why she went to Tremalking in KoD. Something happens there, though that may not be the reason.

Does anyone know if it's only coming out in hardback the first day, or if it will also be released in paperback?

I can pretty much guarantee that any book of this calibre and popularity will be in hardback only for the first few months. Much higher mark-up so more money for the publishers...

Go into a book shop, find a comfy corner and read it there. You may need to go back a few times though...

Some of us won't get to read it for another month...

    Tomorrow... tomorrow...
