Yep I'm sure we all go through this.. What do we get family members that have everything?

I despise this time of year for three reasons.

Number 1: Work is f#$%ed. Why does everyone wait till late November to make orders that will take normally 3 weeks to complete each? By that I mean one order not 20 when they all do it at once!

Number 2: It's a damn chore to have to drive around seeing people for Christmas breakfast, lunch, dinner.. ugh. Okay have it at my place? no effing way I'm spending my hard earned cash on a stupid holiday feast.

Number 3: Presents. I mean seriously... I have my Dad and Step mum and My mum and step dad that have everything. My mum/step dad are on a cruise right now so I cant even ask them what they might like. My dad and step mum have taken school kids to Cambodia so I cant ask them either... I've done all the "things you like or collect crap" and the "Make/print/build it myself" crap the past several years. So I cant do that anymore.

Christmas is shit. Hell I'm not even christian or religious.

If anyone has ANY ideas what to get people please let me know. By that I mean actual items not "Get something they might like" random comments. lol. BTW the cheaper the bloody better haha.

    Cheers.

If they have literally everything, you cannot give them any meaningful gift. People usually does not have "everything", of course. You just need to find things that make their lives easier but they would not buy themselves.

My mother would never get computer components for upgrading her old workstation, for example, so a RAM card or other similar cheap component would make her life easier in a surprising manner. Suggesting a specific item is hard because it depends on the person.

I find myself that most of the times I am expected to give gifts to people I don't care about. That is what I really hate about Christmas. In such cases it is safe to get them something they don't understand but looks expensive while being cheap. Many decoration items, survival knives and foods can fit this cathegory.

Do it like me: Tell people you're atheist and don't celebrate Christmas and expect them to respect your decision. :D

If that's not an option: Have you checked Amazon's Cyber Monday sales? You might find something useful there. Or what about Etsy?
I know a ton of websites where you can buy funny or witty gifts, but all of them are German, so that won't be much of a help either. Sorry. :(

For gifts, we do secret santa, so I just have to buy for one person :)
Well actually, then there's still my godfather, but he always wants a book, and I should probably also give something to my godmother, maybe like a Rituals box or something.
Do you have Rituals in Australia? That's awesome. I haven't met a woman who doesn't like Rituals products.

I'm not a huge fan of the holidays either butttttt we have champagne!

I am afraid that Christmas meetings are more social than purely religious acts. You are not expected to go to a family meeting because Christ came and saved us all, you are supposed to go because that is what the family expects and not doing it is an offense.

Interestingly, I recently read some anti-Christmas banted from E. Gary Gygax, one of the most famous promoters of Dungeons and Dragons, the first published roleplaying game.

I think some of these points are disputed, so beware ;)

I despise the present-buying obligation part of the holidays, especially when I'm expected to buy for "the people who have everything". A friend of mine in university once told me her family solved that particular difficulty by drawing names. They then competed with each other for who could give the cheesiest/tackiest gift to the person whose name they drew. The results were apparently quite hilarious. :D

For some reason I have been reminded of the tale The Legen of Anarcho-Klaus.

"But Klaus, this is a machinegun! My parents are pacifists, they would beat me if they found out I have a machinegun!"
"Of course, kid. And there is no contradiction in that. HO HO HO!"
