hey ya all... I've started to make christian paintings a few weeks ago, and I was wondering if anyone of you knows how to correctly render the serenity and emotion that are put in christian oil paintings?

for a "corpus cristi", I don,t know which angle, what lighting or tone to use to recreate the somber athmosphere and suffering of the crucifixion... and I was wondering how successfully recreate icons, giving the impression of an old, decrepit painting... you see, it's my first time using oil, and I don't know alot about techniques... sooooo... anyone here can give me advices? if possible, someone who has experience making religious art.
