I chose bow and daggers of Legolas, OK they look cool, but also I am not very big. I wanted to learn butterfly knives when I did kung fu and have just discivered a small talent for archery which I am now collecting the equipment to learn. Oh yes and I wom javelin every sports day at school and was pretty good at darts and pool. Will that do ? Oh and well I am female OK?

I chose gimli's axe. You can keep enemies at a distance by swinging it around. In close quarters you can use the long handle as a staff weapon. It can be used to block swords and use the blunt end for quick offensive jabs. Once the enemy has fallen, one swing of the axe will finish him off.

Legolas's weapons are still out in front with 25%, now followed by the Elvish swords on 19% and Boromir's sword & shield on 17%.

There's no denying the power of the axe. It can break the arm holding a shield and chop very large holes in people. However I still like being able to defend whilst attacking, so I'm sticking with Boromir's S&S :)

I think Legolas' daggers and Bow are the best, but Arwen and Eowyn's swords come in at a close second, along with sting and anduril...but to tell you the truth i really can't pick between them, those are just my favorite characters. I think that i really love the all bows in the movie (all the elves and aragorn's, the orcs bows were gross) but that is also probably because i love archery, it's really fun, and im always trying to find awesome looking bows to buy. :halo:

I think that Boromir's gear would be the best in battle. But if it was somewhere like Amon Hen I would hang with Aragorn since I would have the room to move around. Gimli's axes would be a good choice because of the brute force involved with an axe. Honestly though, I don't think Legolas would be realistic. For the bow, yes, but the knives would not be as useful in battle unless you were an elf. Just picture being up on the wall with all the half-orcs coming up and you standing there with two knives. I don't even remember how Aragorn got past the beserker.

Hmm, I would have to disagree there. Granted, a knife fighter would be at an initial disadvantage against a sword fighter, but with two smaller weapons, the knife fighter has speed and versatility on his (or her :D) side. It would require a completely different fighting style, relying much more on agility and dodging instead of strength and blocking. As long as the knife fighter is good enough to get in close before being cleaved in two, the sword fighter is in a lot of trouble.

I have to say the elvish weapons. My personal swordfighting style is done with Katana(s) and the elvish weapons are the closest to katanas. They just seem to have the best balance of speed and power.

Maybe I've said it before but I am quite surprised that only a few have chosen Gimli's axes. Personally, I might be more inclined to use Gimli's battle axe than Anduril.

Being an archer I would definately go with Legolas' gear. His knves may be smaller than a sword but they're larger than your average knife and would create a very devastating wound.

Broknpotre is right; if a knife weilder can get in close a swordsman will have a lot of difficulty trying to hit him affectively.

I don't know. You would have to be either really skilled in dodging the blows or parrying them.

Although I've been handling Glamdring, and learned it's weight and balance, I'd have to choose Haldir's Sword. I've never wielded it, but I've seen the original prop and got the feeling that it is definitely my choice when it comes to LotR weapons. To bad UC never released it... :(

    I go with Legolas' arsenal.
    A) Because you have two knives. Sure, they may not have the greatest range, but looking at all the battles in the films, they're mostly close quarters, so the lighter, more manueverable blades would probably be better suited to that kind of combat, as you don't need as much room to swing, and there's less weight in your hands. Also, one blade to parry, the other to counter :D
and B) The bow (and particularly Legolas') is a deadly effective ranged weapon, which is of course useful at taking out enemies from a distance. These two would be the best choices imo. A lethal ranged weapon, and swift, sharp knives for slicin' 'n' dicin' close up.

me? just give me SCAR-17, a M9, and a combat knife and i'm good. But seing as how that's not a choice, I chose the sword and dagger. Kickass knife fighting when I need to.
