I read a short story collection by China Mieville, and liked it a lot (at least, most of it). What are his best standalone books?

for mr mieville you HAVE to read the scar. That was the first i read of his works. Amazeballs. After I chased everything he has written including looking for jake which is his short story collection(the only that i know of there may be more)
King Rat. also pretty damn good.
Iron council. Critically acclaimed. Same world as the scar but just didn't click for me.
Perdido Street Station- Seemed to be learning his fantasy chops on this one. same world as Iron and the Scar. Pretty entertaining read.
The rest of his stuff is sometimes too complexbut still compelling. I haven't been able to put down one of his creations yet. Haven't read Railsea(which is a moby dick retelling with a giant mole)
    Hope that helps!
