****This thread contains spoilers if you haven't read the New Jedi Order series****

Anyone else ticked off that Salvatore went and killed off Chewbacca? Why him?

As much as I like the New Jedi Order series there is too much death in it. Its a little extreme the number of main characters they feel they can just toss aside.

    R.I.P Chewie :(

I was of course saddened. Ok, I'm still in mourning, alright?!!??!!? But it makes sense. He was like the only main character to die after the movies, and it just served to show us what a threat the Yuzzhan Vong are.

True...but his death began a chain. What book afterwards didn't have the death of at least a semi-major character.

Poor Jar Jar...I don't see why everyone hates him. Its like a trend or something...and he does die eventually...

I can't wait to see Chewie in the next movie though! Since I'm seeing the movie after he dies in the book he'll be alive once again!

Chewy did not deserve to die. But I can think of others who should have.. May be Jar Jar shoud have.. Not much problem with that I wouldn't think..

But thats why Chewie died, because Salvatore knew it would leave an impact. If he killed of someone no one liked like Jar Jar Binks, it would not have been as big of story since only I would have cared.

I actually like this series! Its quite a change to see the bad guys winning and Luke not just rushing in to save the day. And the Yuzan Vong are kind of cool. I mean they use totally organic material and yet are immune to the force and are practically invincible. Yet here we are striving to make more technology. Also how they like pain!

You would'nt have been the only one who cared. I like Chewy. He was one of the coolest in the series. Never knew what he was saying, but he was cool. Thanks to Han Solo, at least he could translate for us. I understand the impact thing, but Chewy was cool... :D :D :D

Looking over Star Wars history......Chewy was just annoying...there were only a few times when he did something right. The rest of the time he made weird noises.

Meh. Chewie was never good enough for me to pay too much attention to. He just let Han work off him. Go Han. :D

The Vong are cool! :D Go the Yuuzhan Vong! I'll stop there before I get too involved. I'm not saying I liked Chewie dying though, how sad. *smirk* No, really. Sad. :(

In case any one wants to know, I know somebody who's going to play a wookie extra! Yeah! Michae Kingma, of the Sydney Kings basketball club. Hehe, the guy's such a clown. But he's tall enough for the roll, obviously.

Maybe someone else knows something about this, because I only heard it second hand, but I heard that the Chewbacca character was killed off as a way to kind of honor the passing of the actor who portrayed him. Has anyone else heard this, or have I been mislead?

Chewbacca was killed off because it fit the story that R.A. Salvatore was writing. Simple as that.

Yeah, I didn't even know that Pete Mayhew died. Must have been recently. Anyway, even if it was, Vector Prime was written a few years back.
