Race: Storm Child
Status: Officer of the Storm Children Army (King’s Daughter [undercover muahahaha])
Appearance: Exceedingly beautiful (when not in disguise), with shoulder length, coal black hair and flashing golden eyes. She has ivory skin, and stands 5’9” with a slender, willowy build. (Picture the ideal princess.)
Weapons: When on foot, Soasan carries a small and a large quiver of arrows for her respective bow. (Her heavier longbow and lighter recurve.) She also sports a small crossbow-like weapon on her left forearm. Over these, Soasan carries a small, light shield. On her left hip, she wears a gladius-like sword, and in each boot rests concealed a small, thin dagger.
When on horseback, the basic layout of Soasan’s weapons are similar, only with her shield resting on the left shoulder of her horse and her longbow and quiver strapped on the right lengthwise. Soasan also carries a lance in her right hand when going into battle. With the great-eagles (or death-eagles, as the Children of the Sun have dubbed them), Soasan’s set up is basically the same, only without the longbow.
Soasan’s armour is flexible, light and very durable. Only a direct shot from a war bolt at close range is enough to break through it, or a heavy blow on a weak joint. However, heavy bruising is an inconvenience that often plagues her.
History: Little is known about Soasan’s life before the invasion.
Name : Anke (Ann-kuh) of the Red Eagle Clan
Gender : Female
Race : Rasvan
Status : First Legate of the Red Eagle Clan, second in command to the Clan Leader
Age : 93 years (Rasvan longevity: potentially 300 years, though with warfare, less than half that)
Appearance : Red hair, wings, eyes, and other features the same as the rest of the Red Eagles. 5’11, muscular and athletic, blue tattoo of rank on her jaw. Wings predominantly golden, with flecks of brick red and brown. Wingspan: 20 feet.
Weapons : Metal talons strapped to her forearms/hands, longbow, hand-crossbow (also strapped to left forearm, fired once at the onset of an assault), three throwing stars strapped under her right wrist (accessible with but a flick of her fingers), many throwing knives strapped about her body and built into her clothing and armour. For close combat, her talons as well as a katana-like curved sword.
Clothing : Hardened black leather as breastplate armour, black cloth wound about her arms, midsection, and legs. Knee-high boots of the same hardened leather fringed with the white and black fur of a mountain leopard. Her collar is also fringed with this fur.
Temperament : Always wears a calm façade, rarely showing her emotions. Cool and calculating, with a brutality alien to the other Races of the Sun. She sees killing as an art, and battle tactics as a way of life.
Brief History : Anke never knew her parents, for they were killed in a raid on a Red Eagle settlement just months after her birth. She was raised by a veteran fighter, and as a child shocked others with her viciousness and appreciation for battle. She remains cold and aloof to all, seeing the making of friends and love as a weakness. Her only sense of duty is that of serving her Clan Leader and protecting those who fight under her.
Note: all names and words with translations were translated from the ancient Raven language
Names: Zhirran “Kuraiken” Namadrin and Jynariel “Yorutsume” Namadrin
Zhirran (ZEER-rahn): ‘born in winter’
Kuraiken: ‘dark blade’
Namadrin (NAH-mah-drin): ‘child of grief, tears;’ in some ancient contexts can mean ‘child of the waves, sea’
Jynariel (ji-NAHR-ee-el): ‘storm’s fury’
Yorutsume: ‘night talon/claw’
Gender: Zhirran, male; Jynariel, female
Age: appearing to be 19
Weapons: metal talons, knives, katana, barehanded (these are their preferences and specialties, although they can fight with almost any weapon). Both also have a remarkable talent for fading into the background despite wings and height and heal quickly; both talents are non-magical.
Gods: Lukylo and Marys
Zylian was a Raven Rasvan who met Amadhi of the Hawks, married him, and bore two children: Idhan, the eldest by a few scant minutes, and Anyazarine, his younger sister. From the time they were born, Idhan and Anyazarine moved in tandem, always watching out for one another.
At two, their parents died, victim to the hostilities between Rasvan clans. Zylian’s half-brother, a Raven who had always been fond of his sister, took the two children in. Jaereth had long been outcast by his tribe due to the fact that he had fallen in love with a girl of the Swan Clan. When the girl was killed in a raid, Jaereth left the tribe.
Jaereth was a formidable warrior, but more than that, he knew the skills of an assassin as well. He taught both to his nephew and niece, and at thirteen, turned them loose on the world, secure in the knowledge that Idhan and Anyazarine were better than Jaereth ever had been, helped by each other and some innate talent.
Idhan and Anyazarine took new names to mark this occasion: Idhan became “Zhirran” and Anyazarine became “Jynariel.” At fifteen, people began calling Zhirran “Kuraiken” and Jynariel “Yorutsume,” garnering a fearsome reputation within two years, and many began to fear them. Sending out their own assassins proved useless, as they either evaded or killed their opponents. Eventually, while they were still feared, the two of them were accepted as mercenary assassins.
Today, they continue to serve as assassins for hire, working in pairs to bring down any target. Never staying with one master for long, they do their job, collect their money, and move on without a second thought.
Although both of them can fight in a variety of styles, Jynariel favors talons and knives, while Zhirran prefers swords and barehanded combat. Nonetheless, their skill with all four styles are equal. Though they are not strong for Rasvan, they are incredibly fast and agile. Those who underestimate Jynariel by her gender are foolish indeed, for Jynariel is as deadly as her brother. But combined, the Jynzhi are undefeatable, a trait that endears them to their employers.
Also known collectively as:
The Jynzhi: a pun on the first syllables of their name that combined mean “assassins”
The Kurohane: ‘black feather.’ So called because the two of them leave a black feather, one from each of them, on their victims’ bodies as a silent signature.
The Namadrin: ‘children of grief and tears’
Personality: Zhirran and Jynariel are almost identical mirrors, both outside and inside. Cold, harsh, and mocking, they can seem cruel to others. But their love for one another runs deep, created by their twin bond and cemented in their dual training. Many of their employers dislike the small, sardonic hovering on the edge of their mouths, and their insolent manner of speaking. They are cool and collected in the best and worst of situations, which is an asset in their professions. And like all Ravens, they prize cunning and wits, which they both possess in abundance.
Appearance: Zhirran and Jynariel favor their mother’s coloring with black wings and long black hair but with unnaturally pale skin. Another odd characteristic is that though their eyes are normally black, when their emotional balance is upset, Zhirran’s become shot through with streaks of gold and green while Jynariel has silver and blue. Elegant and graceful at all times, they also borrow on Falcon agility and an almost magical talent to fade into the background.
Both of them are incredibly tall, and resemble each other to an uncanny degree. Though Zhirran’s hair is shoulder-length and Jynariel’s waterfall is often braided, it is still difficult to tell between them. They wear solid black or grey at all times, pants, long-sleeved shirt, cloak, and either masks or veils concealing the lower half of their face. They prefer soft, moccasin-like shoes or sandals over boots.
Name: Orlan Silvermane
Race: Storm Child
Status: General of the Storm Children Army and commander of the fleet (to be confirmed)
Appearance: Like most Storm children, Orlan is characterised by the black hair and golden eyes of his people, though as he grew in age his hair has begun to go grey. Oddly this seems to only have effected the hair growing from his temples giving him 'white wings' These have often been remarked and have earned him the name 'silvermane' among those known to him. Other than this age has not affected his resolve, he is as srong as he ever was and stands over most men, his body is in good shape and he is fighting fit. Despite his somewhat handsome appearance his face is hard when at work. He has solid cheek dones and an often furrowed brow with stern eyes set in his grim face, years of experience have taught him that it takes a hard man to get the job done, and he gets the job done. When not waging war he is known to be more jovial and kind to look upon but his reknown as a general and a strategist dwarf other areas of his life.
In casual occasions Orlan often wears his uniform to display his status, but when at war or at sea he dons mre practical clothing. His first main piece of armour is a tunic of scale armour that covers his torso and arms tightly and hangs loosley about his thighs. This scale armour, while being steel, has silvered edges, which give it a shimmering look and were partly responsible for his naming 'silvermane.' He also has a cape/cloak pinned about his neck with a silver lightningbolt-pin set of his right side. The cape itself is deep dark blue, almost black. When on sea this is mostly all the armour he wears due to the risks of drowning and the need to be free to move. When on land however he is known to don greaves and breastplate, as well as other pieces of armour more fitting to open battle, most of which have some mild silvering if gilding.
Weapons: When aship rolan favours a simple harpoon, trusting the bows to the archers, he as a general is not used to such combat, but when close in for battle on the deck a spear like implement is very useful to hurl at foes still on the other ship, Harpoons are cheap and easy to come by and their hook provides good use against foes and when of the ship it is good against cavalry.
Desite his preference for the harpoon, he also carried a large two-handed greatsword, which he sheaths over one shoulder. He has had muhc training and practice with this sword and uses it proficiently.
History: Born the only son of a middling merchant Orlan was sent to join the Storm Child army at a very early age, as soon as he became a man. In the years that followed he came to see the army as the only family he needed and his country the only parent he loved as his life before this was not kind.
After four years of soldiering he recieved his first promotion at 21, he continued to rise in the ranks, taking his first command within a few years and showing no sign of stopping. At 25 his name was reknowned for hs vigour, promise and most of all, ambition. So at this time he was sent for further training at the Academy of War. He learned more forms of combat, from fighting ahorse and archery, as well as orating skills. A huge manner of things of mimimal use as well as the mroe important ones such as tactics, strategy and sea warfare. He finished his training and was promoted to general at 34, and has lived up to his reputation ever since.
His campaigns have become near legend and when tales are told of cunning battles it is often one of his, stratagems that would have proven folly to any other man were won out by his keen insight and ambition on the battlefield
The last 18 years of his life have been fighting for his king and country, rising again in the high rungs of the military untill he reached the top. When the plan was told to return across the ocean naturally he was chosen to command a large part of the army and navy during the fighting that would ensue. Man men have boasted it would be too easy with him at the forefront of battle, most of them loyal to Orlan.
However, when Orlan followed his unbridled ambition to the highest rank in the military he still felt the burging push inside him, he wanted more and more, and there was only one more step to take, when the king told them of the plan to aquire a new land he knew what he had to do.
Name: Jaereth Andzyl
Clan: Raven (Outcast)
Weapons: any weapon, although he favors metal talons and longsword. He can fight in three styles: Rasvan, Traian, and assassin
History: Jaereth Andzyl was fifteen years old when he fell in love with Keira Ronsin, a Swan girl one year older than he was. For three years, the two of them exchanged secret messages and vowed to find some way to be together, no matter the protests of their clans – for the Rasvan did not favor intermarriage between clans.
Two years after meeting Keira, his older sister Zylian Andzyl was exiled for allowing herself to become impregnated by a non-Raven Rasvan. Jaereth accompanied her in order to help her during her pregnancy, and helped her to recover from her miscarriage. Intended to return to his sister’s side after a short visit to his home Clan, Jaereth was instead greeted with a horrible present from the Raven Clan-leader Jorv – the severed head of Keira Ronsin and an admonishment that he was not to marry outside of the clan.
Enraged, Jaereth attempted to kill Jorv, but failed. Imprisoned to await his execution, Jaereth managed to escape and fled to the Traian, vowing to exact his revenge on the bodies of the men who had raided Keira’s aerie. First, though, he settled Zylian in with an Owl aerie, for the Owls had a grudge against Jorv, and only then did he begin his training as an assassin. It was here that Jaereth learned to walk upon the ground, how to stalk a quarry without resorting to wings, and other such non-Rasvan training. Seventeen years later, armed with his new knowledge, he tracked down and slaughtered Jorv, his three legates, and the aerie-chief who had assisted in Keira’s murder. Though the Ravens later tried to track him down and name as Clan-leader, Jaereth disappeared from Rasvan sight for the next seventeen years.
The last person to see him was Amadhi of the Hawks, who had impregnated Zylian. Faced with a choice of joining Zylian and wedding her or being killed, Amadhi chose the former, and wed Zylian. Together, the two of them started a small aerie in which all outcast Rasvan were welcome. Though Amadhi and Zylian invited Jaereth to join them, he refused, and became a mercenary warrior and assassin among the Traian, helping them to fight against the Rasvan, especially the Red Eagles and the Ravens. For this reason, the Red Eagles and Ravens numbered Jaereth among their bitterest enemies and sought to kill him at every turn, though he always escaped unscathed. Finally, tired of all the war, he assassinated the two Clan-leaders and gained a little peace from the infighting that followed.
However, Jaereth bitterly regretted this when Amadhi and Zylian’s aerie was razed to the ground, all of its inhabitants slaughtered. Only Anyazarine and Idhan, the two-year-old twins, had survived, for the raiders had been careless and had not searched the depths of the aerie. Although black feathers littered the ground in plenty, Jaereth suspected that the Red Eagles had been behind this attack as well.
Jaereth took the two children in and sheltered them, training them the best he could, constantly on the move, for he feared that either the Ravens or the Red Eagles would track him down and kill his two young charges. And when the twins were twelve years old, a small raiding party of Red Eagles did indeed attack them – but only once. The three assassins slew the entire party, and after another year, Jaereth bade them farewell, curiously content. Since then, Jaereth has lived in hiding, although he follows the progress of the two children he raised.
Personality: Jaereth had been a happy-go-lucky youth drunk upon the wine of love, but his good nature disappeared after Keira’s murder to be replaced with the hard but cautious man who believed in the law of “kill or be killed” with all his heart. But he was kind enough to his sister’s children, and loved them as best he could.
Appearance: Jaereth resembles a typical Raven with black hair, wings, and eyes. He is strong, but not overly so; Jaereth relies on speed, agility, and cunning to get him out of trouble. He wears light leather armor, and has so many throwing implements concealed about his person that it is a wonder that he never injures himself with one.

Name: Sahira Ronsin (sa-HEE-ra RONE-sin), although the ‘rone’ is not drawn out; pronounced like a British “on”
Sahira: means “wind’s sigh” in the ancient Swan language
Weapons: any kind of bow, knives
Profession: healer, High Priestess of Marys’ Healing Order of the Famirath
History: Sahira Ronsin was nine years old when five Ravens invaded her settlement and beheaded her sister Keira Ronsin for the crime of loving another Raven.
Though she was enraged that no one tried to stop the Ravens, she also understood that no one had the strength to defeat four warlike Ravens. Thereafter, Sahira was filled with a hatred for battle, and resolved to become the greatest healer in the world, even from that young age. But she also knew that she would have to learn to defend herself, and resolved to learn the bow and the knife.
At the age of 21, she joined Marys’ Healing Order of the Famirath, and nine years later, became a High Priestess. By that time, she was an accomplished healer and famed for her ability to whisk all she touched from death’s door. Even the Traian praised her name, and she had no equals among the Swan Clan. She was also one of the best archers among the Rasvan, and known to be a superb knife-fighter. Combined with her magical lore, Sahira is deadly enough in her own way – enough so that none attack her, and few wish to, for Sahira gives her healing willingly. Most find her to be a gracious, if slightly pensive, woman, and all respect her.
Yet even Sahira harbors dark resentment in her heart. In the years after Keira’s murder, her hatred against the Ravens expanded to hatred of Jaereth Andzyl, whom she holds responsible for her sister’s death. Time and time again, she sought information on Jaereth, but none could be found. Even now, though she has forgiven most, and is even at peace with the Clan-Leader and his Legates (but only after their deaths), her hatred of Jaereth burns like a bright flame in her heart. Although she is content with her life in almost every way, Jaereth still nags at her…
Personality: Sahira was marked by sorrow at an early age, and it shows in her demeanor. While most Rasvan hold themselves in an alert manner, and their sharp eyes are aggressive, she is serene and peaceful, marked by a sorrow that they respond to. Most people are subdued yet soothed by her presence, and when she has left them, they recall her as they would a dream – a lost, precious thing that can never be recovered.
Appearance: Sahira Ronsin is a tall, beautiful woman with melancholy eyes of pale blue. Willowy and graceful, her ethereal, fragile beauty gives the suggestion of being a true swan. Even her wings, seemingly silver-white (though they have faint hints of silver-blue in direct light) resemble a swan’s. Sahira also has silver hair, a rarity among the Swan Clan. (OOC: For those of you in #9, imagine Sharana, except kinder and sadder… and in general, better-tempered )
Picture: This isn’t very accurate (Sahira has white hair, etc.) but I think that it captures her personality really well. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20485559/

Name: Niamh (pronounced nee-AVH) Ca’ernin (ka-AIR-nin)
Race: Children of the Sun
Weapons: longsword, knives, competent with a longbow
Profession: Queen of Aioshi, Sianna (though both countries have been combined into one of Sianaio), and Mawr
God: None (atheist), although she mouths prayers to Stylliko
State Emblem: A crossed sword and lightning bolt (both in red) on a field of red
Personal Emblem: A greatwolf and snowtiger snarling side by side
Brief Notes on the Children of the Sun: There are twenty-four kingdoms of the Children of the Sun (see the facts thread for the full list), but only seven are of major importance today. The other seventeen are little more than states under the seven kingdoms of Vharin and Kyria in the North, Undai and Thondin in the East, Jolinde in the South, and Brynd and Meiran in the West. The Northern kingdoms are the only ones to allow women to become warriors and queens.
History: Niamh Ca’ernin is a special case among the rulers of the Children of the Sun. The sole heir of King Chonin of Aioshi and Queen Jaien of Sianna, two bordering Northern lesser nations that later combined into one state of Sianaio, she inherited both states at the age of fifteen. Though her people felt trepidation with the fate of their countries in the hands of a girl, she ruled them firmly if fairly. At eighteen, she wed King Gorin of Mawr, who died in a supposed hunting accident three years later, though in truth, Niamh had killed him. Niamh then declared herself Regent of Mawr, and later outright Queen; no one protested her rights to the throne. Since then, Niamh has steadily built up her power until the rulers of the Seven Great Kingdoms began to wonder if there would soon be an eighth among them, but Niamh’s ambitions are far greater…
Niamh openly arms herself with a longsword and several knives, and she claims herself as a warrior queen – no idle boast. It is rumored among her subjects that she was trained by the Traian, but Niamh has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor. She also keeps several greatwolves and snowtigers as pets and guards. Though both beasts are supposedly untamable, Niamh single-handedly slew all the adults in a greatwolf pack and raised the pups side by side with orphaned snowtiger kittens (again, Niamh slew the parents). The beasts are terrible to behold, and though they are fearsome warriors, they behave like pups and kittens towards her. As they are obedient and loyal, Niamh constantly keeps a pair beside her for her protection.
Niamh, unlike most other Children of the Sun, sees the Traian and Rasvan as valuable allies, if she could but woo them to her side. In furtherance of that end, she has begun to send messages to the Clan-leaders and the Traian leaders.
Personality: Five words can best describe Niamh: cool, strong-willed, ambitious, ruthless, and cunning. Niamh is calculating but cautious, and she is always calm and collected. She is strong-willed, and those who expect to see a weak woman with a gentle heart are unpleasantly surprised by her wily intellect and strength. Yet she has a fierce hunger for power, and is ruthless enough to take what power is not offered to her.
Appearance: Tall and slender, Niamh nonetheless conveys the impression of strength. Silver-gold hair, a milk-white complexion, and startlingly clear blue-green eyes add to her fiery beauty. She holds herself in an arrogant manner, yet she is also somehow so self-assured that resisting her seems foolish. But though she can be provocative, openly challenging authority, most refuse to respond to her, instinctively knowing that no matter how harmless she seems, Niamh is dangerous indeed. Although she often wears the gowns and skirts expected of a woman of her station, she also wears scale armor with each tiny scale overlapping the next when her nations are at war. Her favored colors are red, black, and gold.

Air Marshall Shara Medriall
Race: Storm Child
Status: Commander of all Aerial units in the storm children's army
Appearance: Unlike most Storm Children, Shara is relatively light of colouring, with light brown hair and pale skin. Oddly this is a feature commonly found in eagle riders, it is thought that prolongued flight at high altitudes means more exposure to the sun tha causes this trait. It may also be a factor that Shara comes from a long line of eagle riders in her family, though she is the first toachieve such a high rank.
Shara still retains the golden eyes of her people, hers with a deep piercing gaze often likened to that of her eagle Valour. Besidesthes obvious features Shara has tattoos that run down her face from her right cheek all the way to her elbow. Tattoos being commonplace among moredevoted eagle riders, though not an offical part of the military code, they tend to signify a more experienced rider.
Slender and agile, Shara hs rough skin from years of flight but regulates her bodyweight strictly, keeping her slim yet versitile enough to handle an eagle.
Due to obvious weight constrictions she wears very little when flying, tight leather pants and snug fitting supple boots, as well as a tight tunic. Over that a leather breastplate and bracers, with a headband to keep her hair back and out of the way (though she is also fond of wearing her hair in a ponytail or braid at the same time).
Because of her devotion to flying she wears this most of the time, though when off duty she goes without the breastplate and may wear a cloak. For formal events and meetings with her superior officers she wears her uniform as required and proudly.
Weapons: Once again weight contrictions keep her arsenal to a minimum, she has one medium/short lengthed curved katana as well as a few smaller utility and throwing knives. Also she carried a small but powerful corssbowand bolts, no more. Though after recent meetings with orlan she carries anti-rasvan bolts instead.
History: Shara was born into eagle riding. Her mother was one of the best riders of her day, and her father a trainer at the aviary in the storm child capital. Practically from birth she had been around eagles, and as she grew she grew to love them as her mother did. When she ws old enough to walk, she was presented with an egg (though at the time it was kept in the avery with the others it was hers thereafter).
Though many eagle riders come into the profession after joining of enlisting into the army, there has been an ancient tradition kept by only a few riders, that to truly create a bond between the rider and eagle, the two must be raised together from as early as was safe. So, in hopes Shara would become a great rider, her mother carried on the tradition.
Shara watched the egg hatch and the chick grow, and byt the time she was 12 every moment they spent was together training. Shara would practice acrobatics in the perches in the aviary as her eagle watched, and watch her eagle as it was taken out to fly. At this time she had not given the creature a name, as part of the ancient tradition dictated that it was only after their first flight, was she allowed to name her eagle. Ofcourse the traditon says that in that first unique flight it would be the eagle that revealed its name to her.
The day came on her 19th birthdaythe eagle was finally large and strong enough to carry her, and they flew. Over the city and out into he country, beyond the eyes of eveyone they ad ever known soaring, wings wide catching the wind the eagle let up a proud cry. And then Shara knew its name.
And henceofrth they were one. The next year they won the annual tourney at the aviary, where riders would go through obstacles and test the abilities of their eagles, this newcomer shocked them all, and shara earned her mothers love a thousand times over that day.
After that she was approached by recruiters from the military offerening her a good carer and respect. and as a militaristic culture she saw it as a real way of using her talent to help her people. so she signed up just as her mother had and joined the Eagle Riders.
After several long years of manouvers, mock wars and scouting Shara had finally risen in ranks to commanding her own wing of eagles, it was then that they were enlisted for use in the annual wargames held at the military academy. it was on that fateful day she crossed paths with silvermane.
It is the nature of flyers to resent their commander, as there is no spirit freer than one with wings. Going into the academy she was dreading who her commander would be and grimaced at the sight of the tall stone faced man they called the Silvermane. He was everyhting about the commanding officer type she hated, but then he sat her down at the table and began to talk about eagles. Not about wars or stategies or plans, or wost of all orders, they sat their and discussed breeding and flight patterns and anything else.
What she learned that day was that the rumoured prowess of the silvermane wasnt just in his ability to plan his moves perfectly, but his relationship with his men. In that first talk the man knew right away was kind of person she was an appealed to her nature, and did everything he could to earn her confidence and respect. She was even shocked to learn Orlan had himself flown an eagle, though only in his efforts to familiarise himself with every man he commanded. That only furthered her respect for the man.
That mock war was fought and won in an hour, usually when they asted the day. All because Orlan placed his faith in Shara because of her skill, and it was that trsut that drove her to succeed.
Henceforth she requested to serve under the Silvermane, and he promoted her to be his personal captain of the eagles he commanded, and they were trusted allies to this day.
Though she never won, Shara would weekly challenge Orlan to games of Conquest, perhaps it was just for assurance in her General or in desires to go beyond him, but every time she lost and never felt shame.
When the Return to the old lands was announced she smiled, she would be going into the greatest battle of her time under the greatest general under the sun, and knew victory and honour awaited her.
