despite his slow exterier (we all know a lot about that) I've found that Caramon has a surprisingly deep interier. it's strange that he depended on his twin more than his twin depended on him, but in the end he found his inner strength and the will to go on after his twin's "death"

    any opinions on that?

I like Caramon alot. I thought that he developed nicely from a simple minded brute, to a well rounded individual, and a great leader.

Turin has it there. But I have to admit, I kinda warmed to him in the beginning, I'm not really sure why. He's still a great character. I almost closed to book in Time of the Twins until Bupuu started kicking him so I had to read on :D

at first I didn't like him, I thought he was stupid mostly. but then I kind of started liking him, especially when he was made general in the Legends.

Yea, he really came into his own in Legends, and only matured further in the later novels.

Yeah I thought he was best/worst in the early Fifth Age novels.

Caramon was never stupid, he just wasn't the quick thinker that Raistlin is. He's kinda've like Perrin from the Wheel of Time books.

Thank you!! Caramon was far from stupid. Raistlins power was in his brain, Caramon's in his arm. But to lead an army, one must have intelligence yes?
It's only in comparison that Caramon was seen as a big oaf. Raistlin was always looking down on him because their intelligence worked on different levels.
Had you asked Raislin to lead the armies Caramon did, we'd have seen Raistlin as 'unknowing'.

Caramon was never stupid but he led his army because he was wiser than he was smart. remember in his youth he always failed at strategy games without Raistlin around. and Raistlin knows nothing of leading an army anyway so the position fell to Caramon.

What about Caramon's children. Do you think that Tanin and Sturm are too much like their father? I they may have been a little too subtle in making the differences. Sturm is far too much like Caramon imho. Still loveable, but too similar. Palin is rather interesting though.
