The thing that I really really hated about it was that they took out the whole thing at the end of the book were Sauron takes over the Shire. Other than that I thought the changes were ok and they did a good job on the movie.

*gasp* you mean saruman! Silly PFW :p

Yeah I didn't like how they took out the Scouring of the Shire either, the Battle of Bywater was great... it showed Merry and Pippin at their best :)

I've noticed that the part from the book with the watchers could easily be in there. One shot is Sam going up to the entrance, the next is him on the other side. There could definitely be that scene reinserted. Though this is just speculation, mind you.

hmm.. Interesting? btw: Has anyone mentioned the exclusion of Frodo & Sam at the Crossroads? I've seen several picatures.. SO that should feature at the beginning of the extended cut, slotting in somewhere with Ithilien there? Just another stick in teh fire to fuel my anticipation ;)

You know, with all this DVD speculation, I think I'm almost as excited for it as I was for ROTK in the theater. It's like getting another whole movie!

That will probably be where the title is in the extended. If you've noticed on the other two extendeds, the title is on a new scene. (Bilbo's study and Frodo and Sam climbing)

??? I know I was in the theater for 3 hours and 20 minutes each of the four times I've seen it. What do you mean?

You're right Gud, ROTK is 3 hrs and 20 mins long. Thats how long i was in the theatre. Also to answer a someone's post earlier. Gahn-buri-gahn is supposed to be in the EE. I saw his name on the ending credits. That's one more thing to look forward to in the EE.

I honestly don't think that he's needed. It works just fine without him. I really didn't miss him at all. But that's just my opinion.

Although most people have been saying taht, i think taht it would be cool to see him. Its just one of those things that you can notice and enjoy, you know what i mean? The EE is more for the fans of the books, like you or me, or just about anyone else who has read the books on here. Thats why PJ puts most of those parts in there, for the fans.

When reading the books, my mental image of Gahn-buri-gahn is one Peter Jackson could have easily portrayed. I never realized it until now. You said GBG was in the credits- he wasn't PJ, was he?

no he wasn't i dont think. But he will be in the EE. I think that it is going to be so cool. It adds more of an effect to the journey of the rohirim to minas tirith. it also shows that other races besides the two main kingdoms are good. I am excited to see GBG in the EE. Also the southern gate is in the EE. Watch the TTT 2nd disc, of the original version. Watch the ROTK sneak peak. You will see a bunch of orcs with a battering ram, ramming a gate. The gate is too small to be minas tirith, and there are no gates in osgiliath, so cant be either of them. So check it out you guys.
