Okay, maybe it's a stretch putting it in this area, but you could look at this as the ultimate form of armour - a castle! http://www.guedelon.com/uk/presentation/presentation.php I saw a snippet of this castle project on one of Sunday's ABC/SBS history shows and it blew me away. How incredibly insane, and wonderful. They showed stone masons splitting blocks by hand, using knotted ropes to do 1:1 scale drawings for arches etc - everything used on this project is done by hand using period hand tools and lots of effort. The workers even wear costumes! Apparently 400 workers working 5 x 14 hour days could put up a castle wall in 4 years. They have a much smaller workforce working normal working hours, and hope to get this project finished by 2030ish. What a fantastic project. And with any luck, Megan and I might be able to visit it next year! Apparently it's only 90 minutes out of Paris.
