I think Iv'e posted this before....but it's still true. Is the auther of the RedWall books stuck in a rut? I mean, I can't seem to remember which RedWall book is which, i have no favorite....you know why? 'cause they're all pretty much the same. The heros go off on some quest, get attacked by vermin or frogs or lizards or some form of nasty shrew, meanwhile Redwall is being attacked. So and so saves the day...then everyone has a feast. Is Brian just repeating the books over and over and just adding new characters? Sometimes it seems that way.

Yeah, I agree. They are pretty monotonous in the story lines. I prefer the stories before Redwall began like Martin the Warrior because there is no Redwall to go save. And those mice in Redwall need to start using lethal force to defend themselves. Well, hopefully he will come out with something new other than another Castaways title.

True. True. In the next one (Loamhedge), we may get some variation. The main character is in a wheel chair (sounds dumb to you? you're not the only one) and they go off to find the remains of Loamhedge. Brief history lesson here, Loamhedge is where the original mice, led by Abbess Germaine, that formed Redwall came from. It was buried in an earthquake in Mattimeo.

Should be interesting, I'll bet even though the main character has a handy cap, he'll still be able to heroically fight the bad guy, rescue the heroine and or dibbun, and still be back on time for a grand feast!

    Re: Brian in a rut?

It maybe true that the story line repeats itself, but I like it, and Brian always manages to add something new. I WOULD be tired of it, but he has a habit of making one of those really different, original plot types every few books, like The Taggerung and The Legend of Luke so I think it's ok.

    Re: Brian in a rut?

    ^^same here.

after reading 5 books in a row, it does get a bit tedious, but the story-line works.

    Re: Brian in a rut?

Brians had plenty of female main characters. I just can't remember the names of any cause it's been so long since i read the books. I agree that Brian is in a bit of a rut. I can't even remember where i left off the series (it was either the Legend of Luke, which was awesome) or Marlfox (which was shithouse).

awwww, come on, Loki. Marlfox was great in my opinion. Just out of curiousity, what didn't you like about it?
